Yer Blues John (excellent name): If you read my detailed message from a few pages back in this very forum thread then you can see the Beatles were rocking hard years before all the other bands you mentioned were even formed.

Well obviously the Beatles were the first to do things that became common in rock music. But I mean Hendrix and Clapton were doing things similair to the Beatles. I do believe as I said in a previous post that the Beatles were inovators and they mastered everything before anyone could or even dared try.

I don't consider the Stones hard rock and I don't think anyone has, including them. They, like Led Zeppelin, were heavily influenced by the Blues. Therefore, their music is blusey rock or rockabilly (Elvis Presley mocking or whatever you want to call it; atleast Mick). The Who were a bit more fierce than the Beatles and the Stones (Keith and Peter were insane, in a good way) but their music wasn't really hard rock either. As for the Kinks, they were pop rock with catchy chorus' and riffs. They are also number 4 on the original four bands from across the pond.
