    Best Fans

What artists attract the most intelligent/kind/fun fanbases? I'd have to say:

    Frank Zappa
His politics and parodies and such make him a very complex artist to approach, so those who remain imho are those who are more persistent and willing to try over and over with things they don't love at first.

    The Flaming Lips
The live show dress-ups prove the carefree attitude of the fans.

Those are the only ones who come to mind. What other fanbases are generally open-minded people who are less likely to force their favorites down your throat though they are still loyal to the band a la those "bad" fanbases?

    Grateful Dead.

    and Dave Mathews Band.

those fans are pretty laid back and interesting to talk to - even if they are hippies

Coheed. at least the people i know on the Cobalt forums. they are great ambassadors for the band and are insane to the highest level ( see MTV march madness tournament),but most of them like a ton of other bands, and understand the criticisms of the band.It seems like i make new friends every show i go to,seriously cool people.

also,SSPU fans are really cool.I have a lot of fun talking to those people waiting in line for shows.

Have to agree with that, especially Grateful Dead fans. Some of the friendliest people I've ever met at shows.
