Call of Duty got to be rediculous, Halo to me is nothing special at all, Fallout 3 ftw.

Yankees need to learn "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Way too many FPS's these days. Look at any game mag these days like VGM or Game Informer and half the articles are about FPS's. That's why I still prefer Nintendo over other game companies. They aren't afraid to explore new ideas and innovations, rather than just sticking to what's already popular, adding a couple tweaks, and releasing a new game. Never played Borderlands or Fallout. I'm more of a platformer and adventure guy anyways.
As for first person shooters, though, I do love the Metroid Prime series dearly, and The Conduit on Wii is great, especially benefiting from the pointer controls. Looking forward to the sequel. Halo and COD are decent, but severely overrated.

I've been enjoying a FPS-free summer so far. I was just getting a bit tired of them. So I've been playing alot of older games I never got around to, like Bully, GH5, Viva Pinata, Ghostbusters, Tomb Raider: Legend and some XBLA titles like Risk: Factions, Monkey Island 2, Braid and Limbo.
Aside from the new Borderlands DLC that's coming out in the next month or two, the only FPS I'll probably get anytime soon is Halo: Reach. No Battlefield, no COD, no Medal of Honor. And I can wait to play Fallout: New Vegas after the holidays.
if my time isn't consumed soon by a move back to tennessee (which i hope it is) i'm thinking about biting the bullet and giving counterstrike another run.
it's becoming more and more obvious that competitive FPS gaming is going down the toilet and pubbing in FPS's just doesn't cut it anymore.

Where do you come up with this stuff, LD?? Very funny
Anyhow - I've been playing a lot of Resistance 2 on the PS3. I'm pretty casual as far as FPS go, so it's about the right speed.
Online cooperative is what I go mostly - 8 people all working together is pretty fun. The competitive mode is pretty nuts too.
I have a fair number of FPSs. On the N64, I have Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. For me, Perfect Dark edges over Goldeneye with it's multiplayer bots and weapon selection.
On the Gamecube, I have the rather mediocre Goldeneye: Rouge Agent and the excellent Timesplitters: Future Perfect. My cousin and I had lots of fun creating scenarios in TS:FP's multiplayer. Examples would be the monkey baseball bat duels & Siberian monkey and deerhaunter hunting.
With the Wii, I have COD:MW:R and COD:WaW. I prefer the weapon selection of Modern Warfare, but I love the maps on World at War. If there was some way to combine the two.
