I know some groups have been mixing songs at lower volumes since HMX started doing so on official DLC.
Is that the issue (it's too low compared to other RBN tracks) or do you feel there is something else at work?

Going off the video on Youtube (which is probably inaccurate), it doesn't sound any worse than All I Want and It's Complicated.
[] Dizzy Mizz Lizzy [] Dover [] Guano Apes [] More Miley Cyrus
[] The Rasmus [] The Veronicas [] More Volbeat
the album version doesn't sound crappy
(not saying the RBN version does, I don't have it yet)

The varying levels of volume from stuff like "The Funeral" to the HMX DLC to "Wake Up" by Me Talk Pretty (which practically blows my ears off) can be annoying.

If I remember right, it was an issue with the masters for the ADTR songs.
But yes, I find that lower volume songs tend to sound better, so if you're artificialy inflating the volume, please don't.
It's extremely noticable when playing guitar or bass and the vocals nearly disapear, which happens more prominently on songs that are louder (because the instrument bump you get while playing that instrument is then proportionally higher). "Softer" songs mix better with solo instrument play. Besides, my high end stereo gear can crank the volume with less compression than you can on an MP3 source file.

bront remembers right, after better off this way came out someone mentioned it sounded off from the album version, and Bwest came in and explained how he spent over 10 hours mixing better off this way and thats the best he thought he could get it. I dont remember what he said, be there is something up with the stems they get from victory, which makes it really hard for even their experienced mixers to get them to match the albums.
that said, they have been improving, and this batch of three songs sounds good, on par with better off this way
