TRB brings up another UO of mine: I like going to /mu/ because they have occasional great conversation about music and are constantly active.

It didn't have to just apply to HoR. I know nearly everyone here likes Death Metal, except you and Neck I think. But in the RBN forums and outside this site, death metal hate is crazy.

UO: Critics can offer a fresh and different perspective on music that does not require musical skill and is still as valid (no more, no less) as a musician's.

Replace "critic" with "non-musician" and I would agree. Personally, I'd say music criticism is about the worst type of criticism, perhaps next to food criticism and video game criticism.

Not that I'm particularly against music reviews/music evaluation, but I do constantly scratch my head at how "professional" music critics from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork are still employed.
