2 bands brah, neither of which really fit the chugga chugga breakdown bree format that most bands do.

It's still deathcore which is grossly inferior and worse then even low tier melodeath.

You could argue that Animosity's last album and none of the Red Chord albums are actually Deathcore, they just get labeled that because Animosity was at one point that style, and a bunch of awful bands consider the Red Chord an influence. The Red Chord also has a very unique immolation leaning riffing style, something far better than overblown Melodic style.

In fact, I hate pretty much all Melodic Death Metal. And I mean hate.

I think lumping At the Gates with In Flames is pretty ****, still. What ATG did was innovative and phenomenal and I do remember The Red Chord being pretty good for a metalcore outfit, though my memory isn't the best when remembering metalcore. I think they were praised alongside Zao back then? Eh. But yes, a gross amount of melodeath has deteroiated is pretty trite (late-era Hypocrisy, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, etc). But bands like Amorphis, At the Gates, etc. are worth the dregs of mediocrity in my experience.

I understand that At The Gates was innovative and revolutionary, I just don't really like their music at all.

UO: Amon Amarth isn't as bad as people think.
    Derivative, yes.
    Death Metal's AC/DC, yes.
But not as bad as some people think.

I just don't really like their music at all.
Which is a complete shame as everything they composed was worthwhile.

Amon Amarth are not as bad as In Flames and have a few notches ahead of Arch Enemy, yeah. I don't hate them but they are about as aesthetically pleasing as they are boring and predictable, but maybe that's just me.

You can't take Freak Out! too seriously, I think. I know I crack up every time during "Wowie Zowie" and "You Didn't Try to Call Me".

Melan Collie is easily their weakest, it's the most bloated album I've ever encountered.
Despite all my rage, I'm still just Nicolas Cage
