    The TBRB Effect

Playing TBRB in my house has had an interesting effect on my 2 boys. My youngest (7) asked if he could take piano lessons at the start of the summer so he can learn music, and is saving his allowance and tooth fairy money to buy himself a drum set.

My oldest (8) went to his grandmother and made a deal with her. If he saves up enough money for 2 months of guitar lessons, she'd pay for an electric guitar starter pack. He just bought a block of 10 one hour group lessons at the community centre with his Birthday money.

So we went into the store to look for a starter pack for him. In talking to the owner apparently he's been doing a brisk sale in starter packs for kids thanks to RB in general and he says THRB specifically.

"The parents with young kids have been coming in this summer, buying these starter guitars because their kids loved playing Beatles Rockband so much they all want to be a Beatle." He told me.

And he's had a lot of grown ups and teens coming in buying Beatles sheet music and asking about their instruments. He's also been selling more Beatles picks and straps too.

Just an anecdote from one store, but a year on it seems the game is still having an effect.

I must admit this gives me hope for the future of music.

I'm delighted that they have gotten really enthusiastic about actually learning the instruments at such a young age. With some practice and determination, when they start at such a young age, they may well become extremely good at their respective instruments.

I hope to hear more of their progress, and am delighted to hear that they are taking their enthusiasm for the game into the real world.

On a personal level, I have been playing more songs on my acoustic guitar, and have been very interested in buying a Hofner Paul McCartney bass.

I used to play piano before buying the game.

But, after playing it... I began to learn songs like Blackbird or Eight Days A Week with my father's guitar.

And I already know Blackbird (not perfect, but hey, I did it alone).

picked up a harmonica, myself. Started to learn how to play, but need to get a book or more music.

Learned the 'Love Me Do' riff from internet tabs. It's pretty awesome so far.

What do proteins have to do with guitars?

After playing this game with a few friends they said I have a great singing voice and now I'm a part of their band. I'm also going to start to learn how to play the bass guitar.

I got interested in guitar because of the Beatles a year and a half ago. Now I play acoustic and electric rhythm guitar. I even have an Epiphone Casino
