Was Help the first Christian Rock song?

    It's a pretty common interpritation.
    Remember zeppelin1969!

    best explanation I could find.....

John is crying for Help. Specifically he is crying out to his wife which by this time he had become increasingly estranged. He's calling out to her to help keep him grounded during this period of insanity in his life.

And it makes the most sense if you know about the beatles history. I am not saying you don't, but just from my readings on the histories of them, this makes the most sense to me. He had become estranged from her, and he was going somewhat insane. Almost on the verge of a breakdown.

I could see where you are coming from. And it could have that meaning behind it. But I doubt Christianity was intended, just by knowing Lennon's thoughts.

sincerely doubt it was lennon's intention to be about christianity, considering that by the next album, he was writing songs that were attacking it (Girl).

"Girl" certainly had Christian overtones on the track. Though it was Revolver that had Brian Wilson influenced by the religious topics in certain Beatles songs for example "Eleanor Rigby" and "Love You To" for Smile.

I don't think many Atheists write Christian Rock songs.
If you have to ask, then yes.

Well even if he wasn't, Christians don't say "God is a concept by which we measure our pain. I don't believe in Bible. I don't believe in Jesus."

    Score.
Reporter: Is Ringo the best drummer in the world?
John Lennon: Ringo isn't even the best drummer in The Beatles.
