The Beatles Dreamscapes worked because they were tailored to the songs, and because the Beatles songs lent themselves to such backgrounds.
Most rock music does not work well with such backgrounds.

We've ended on a sour note:

Still...thank you for the music
Playing on the Xbox360 in Pro Guitar Mode with a Squier. I'm playing the second lesson set, the final lesson where all you're asked to do is deploy overdrive. Only, I deploy Overdrive. I deploy it often. But the lesson never says I completed it. I'm playing at 100% speed, but I never get the green light saying the lesson is done.
Am I missing some detail?

Please display the chord names for the PRO KEYS parts. Keyboard player read chords too! It would be faster to learn the songs and to follow.
In Rock Band, as in life, I can play really good rhythm guitar but my fingers are not made for solos. Lots of songs I love to plan and can do just fine playing even the most demanding rhythm parts, but get to the solo and I'm dust. e.g. Randy Rhodes' Ozzy songs.
I'd like to have an option to play rhythm through the solos....
Why not? I really, really hate some of the solos (the "shredding" ones that blow up into a cloud of rapid HOPOs); I'd love to be able to skip those.
In either case, there'd have to be separate leaderboards, though I supposed the stiff reduction in potential points would make it difficult or impossible to score high enough to rank.

With Pro, if the goal is to teach guitar, learning the rhythm guitar part is part of the goal.
With legacy, I think you just need to suck it up and try to learn to get better. Generally, the nutso solos are few, far between, and OD can get you though them till you can get better at them.
Besides, that, there isn't always a rhythm option, and it's extra time they need to take (the rhythm section isn't always the same during a solo).

I don't know, on Rainbow in the Dark I'm pretty sure I could get a better score if I could keep combo strumming a few chords instead mashing through that solo
There probably is a Guitar 2 playing rhythm through these solos for most songs (not all of course), so it's not entirely unrealistic. It could work: Instead of choosing Bass/Guitar you'd be choosing Bass/Rythm/Lead.
But yeah, the pain involved would be: if it's not just a difficulty level switch (i.e. Hard vs. Expert), then the leaderboards would be fragmented again. So it's probably too much complication to introduce any new concepts here.
Edit: I've also thought that it would be cool to learn the 'campfire song' version of whatever song is released, which wouldn't require any solo skills, so I totally see why someone would want this.
