"Solo Vocals" should have been just the blue line in the first place (and harmony charting should have always been there). The way they sometimes bounce you to another singer's part in "Solo Vocals" causes lip-sync to get messed up, having a line that should have come from one of the backup singers instead coming out of the lead singer's mouth, or the lead singer mouthing along seemingly belting out the lyrics along with another singer when he/she isn't supposed to, not to mention artificially makes some songs MUCH harder (Good Vibrations outro, I'm looking at you).

I'd love to play Need You Now or Don't You Want Me where I stand around doing nothing for an entire verse while another band member is singing almost inaudibly because I play with the vocal track all the way down.

Where would that leave "Under Pressure"? I'd prefer the option to sing with Bowie or Mercury as whim determines.
A peek into my RB dreamlist:

Simon and Garfunkel: "A Hazy Shade of Winter"
    Icehouse: "Icehouse"
    The Spinners: "Spaceballs"

It would be turning on parts. The parts that are off will not be scored, but will still scroll by.

Turning down the vocal track will only work if blue is one of the scored lines, and the track will automatically turn back up during sections where only unscored parts are playing.

Each phrase for each part is fully scored. Using "Under Pressure" as an example again, you will turn on the blue (Mercury) and orange (Bowie) lines and leave the yellow (Taylor) line off if you only have two singers, as you will be penalized for not singing the third part otherwise.

Solo vocals exist to let people play something themselves when they don't want to play harmonies solo. There are plenty of songs where if you only charted one part to the solo vocalist, the solo vocalist wouldn't sing almost half the song. Beyond that, there is the legacy expectation of solo vocals to have this stuff charted.

That said, a "solo Harmony" mode would be cool.

Hey, some of the worse songs on keys leave the keyboardist with nothing to do for like half the song, and the presence of keys means that lots of keys/synth parts were rightfully taken away from the guitarist. Not to mention, songs with long instrument solos keep ALL of the singers from having a part, though they try to keep the solo singer engaged with the vocal percussion sections.

Yeah, it's too late to do this. It'd be more reasonable to shut the lead singer character's mouth during phrases that aren't blue.

I still get cognitive dissonance from getting a Strong and losing combo. Strongs should reset your streak to 1 (starting you at 2x). It's like missing the first few notes in a group of ten notes - the next group of ten notes, you will have some of them at 2x. That way, if you manage to fumble through with mostly Strongs, you won't have such a dismal score at the end. Adjust the star cutoffs accordingly.

Another semantics issue I have: Ye olde catch-all genre, "Rock".

Solution 1: Massive re-labeling. Lots of "Rock" songs would have better fit in Punk or Alternative, or were given that generic label because Indie and New Wave didn't exist at the time. Then, there are lots of songs that are only in Rock because the more precise genre doesn't exist - blues rock, hard rock, and surf rock. Move the bluesiest of the stuff to Blues, make a Hard Rock genre (which will also take away a few bands from Classic Rock - Deep Purple and Kiss to name two), and move surf rock to Reggae/Ska - add a /Surf at the end of that genre. This will leave Rock as a genre that means modern mainstream material. 70s Rock should not exist - it's Classic.

Solution 2: Add enough non-rock to make rock the minority majority.

Seriously, how many of your ideas AREN'T 'score me better for less-than-perfect performances'?

Well, all of my "The aesthetics suck, please fix them" ideas for one, and my "Generic Rock sucks, move songs out of it" idea I just put in my last post for two.

And those ideas you are talking about are more like "don't spit in my face for having a nearly-perfect performance".

But no one's 'spitting in your face'. You just can't stand flaws on a personal level, not a game level.

He's offended by "Awesome Solo!", thinking that the game is being sarcastic .
