Easily digestible three minute pop songs finding more appeal with the unwashed masses than complex long compositions? Who'd have thunk it.

Edit: Argh, Cubecubed already beat me to that one. Oh, well.

I'm sure it was cheaper than The Beatles.

ie modern music for its core target age group audience. The creaky old folks on the forum can wax lyrical all they want about how amazing forgotten prog bands like Yes are but its the likes of the bands you mentioned which will turn in bigger profits for more minimal effort in return (more chance they need to promote new material, are on tour, up to scratch masters, more embracing of video games as a music meduim etc).

I find it interesting though that all credit due to HMX weve not found ourself in RB3 era as having too much modern music (a common RB2 late era complaint). They have been giving us a good balance as of late - i feel this is because its HMX licensing on their own instead under the wing of Viacom/MTV.
Hoping for more british music on RB Blitz

I'm 22, I love listening to older bands like Yes, Joy Division, and the Clash, but I also enjoy listening to newer bands like Mastodon, OK Go, and Foo Fighters. You're never too old or young to enjoy music.

No one was saying that, but youth leans towards the radio, older people lean towards what was on the radio when they were the youths.
