The only question I really have is of HMX takes the Rock Band franchise with them where ever they go or if MTV gets to keep it ala Guitar Hero/Red Octane? If HMX gets to keep Rock Band then I'm really not as worried.
Missing in action:
Enter Sandman
Battery
Paranoid
Let There Be Rock
Anyway You Want It
Give it Away
Spoonman
Bring them home HMX!
Maybe they could put neversoft on converting RBN songs to PS3 & Wii if Activision buys HMX & RB?
If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me? ~Kweh
Beware: Schizofrenic Poster
Activision wouldn't buy Harmonix they've got Guitar Hero. EA should buy them since they publish their games anyways.. I cant see RB in Activisions hands... They would kill it..![]()
I could see Apple buying HMX... they do have a HUGE amount of cash set aside for strategic buyouts. They are in the music biz... and HMX could make some killer iPad/iPod/iPhone apps. Micro$oft might not like this in the long run...
I could see Micro$oft buying HMX because of Dance Central. This would be... bad... for PS3 and Wii users, but great for 360 users. Being a 360 user... I would not be affected by this, so bring it on.
I could see Activision buying HMX and this would be both good and bad. It would end the exclusivity on the good side. On the bad side... no competition makes poor games. Look at Madden once they bought the NFL license. Those games INSTANTLY went downhill, removing features, having massive bugs and lackluster yearly updates. Also bad... I hate the Guitar Hero games and knowing Activision, if they had to get rid of one of the titles... it would be Rock Band unless they did a Guitar Hero: Rock Band game next. And as long as you could use ALL of your previous DLC and have the option of going with Guitar Hero charts/art or Rock Band charts/art, I could live with that... maybe.
I hope that Pepsi buys them... then we can get DLC codes with each can of delicious nectar. Or McDonalds... getting a song with each McRib. Mmmmm... I suddenly want to risk my heart exploding and go there for lunch.
Wishlist:
NIN - Head Like a Hole *
David Bowie - Hearts Filthy Lesson
The Toadies - Possum Kingdom *
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
I'll take Activision if it means the RB series receives life support and continues to receive quality DLC. At least we still have the good RB3 and not RB4 or whatever crap they may push after that. Oh God no, please don't die on me, Rock Band!!
But I think Electronic Arts and Apple are good alternatives.

Can't Harmonix be on their own with RB rights. I mean do they have to have a parent company?
Their current parent company wants to get some money out of them, and if they were to just release them as an independent, the parent company would not gain anything. So there's millions of dollars at stake in finding a new parent company to buy them.
It would be like Subway throwing away a delcious meatball sandwich when someone has offered to buy it for $5.99.
