Can anyone link me to the most quiet and reliable Ion cymbal they recommend?

The hi-hat that shipped with my set over two years ago just broke I'm thinking of replacing them all because their ridiculously loud and slowly wearing away. But what specific cymbals would you guys recommend? I want em' quiet and responsive. Send me a link if possible

I've had problems with noise, overhits, stripped screws, etc. as well and it's really gotten on my nerves. I'm getting the Rock Band Total Replacement Package from hopedrums for Christmas (http://www.hopedrums.com/RockBand%20Special.htm bottom of the page). I'm getting the TCs replaced for PCs as it says you can do since I've heard the TCs aren't that good from about 14" and up. If this thread is still around and relevant by that time (probably won't be, but if it is) then I'll be sure to let you know how I like them.

Seriously, I'm not taking the link out of my sig until we've got Dethklok.

Hmm so what size and type would you recommend for a hi-hat replacement? All this different sizes make it seem like a tricky choice

So a TC cymbal should be the most realistic choice for a hi-hat since it has the least rebound (like a real hi-hat.) But what size? 10''?

Also I'm not sure how what clamp sizes to get and what not :/

I went with a 10" TC for my kit. Works wonders. The biggest adjustment I had to make was learning how to be more accurate with my hits since it's smaller than what I'm used to. But I think you can get the 14" TC for your hi-hat cymbal as well.

Alright so the Ion cymbals come out to a bit over 11". Unfortunately, my only two options for a replacement is either a 10" or a 14" on the link KEWB supplied for me. So I'll probably go with a 10" despite how tiny it looks in videos I've seen. Few more questions. The cymbal clamps and arms for the original Ion cymbals wouldn't happen to be compatable with these new TC Pinetech cymbals would they? I have to purchase new ones don't I? It's mind blowing that I could spend roughly $40 on a new Ion cymbal expansion for a new cymbal, arm and clamp, but have to spend $70-$80 for this new one significantly tinier one. I suppose that's the cost for a drastic increase in quality though. Videos have proven how much quieter it is. Also, whats the difference between a "Strait Cymbal Arm," and a "Boom Cymbal Arm?"

The Pintech will fit on your old hardware. I just swapped out my Roadie upgrade HH cymbal for the 10" Pintech and all I ordered was the cymbal. Works perfectly too. No dropped notes, quieter sound. Way better experience.

I've been using the 10" TC Pintechs for over a year and they are great. I don't think you will be disappointed at all, I have not had any problems with them at all. I recommend using the 10" for a hi hat. If you want to go with the 14" for cymbals I suggest you try to check them out first. I found the TC 14"s were a little too flimsy for me and they were warping, but they were warped from packaging to start with. As long as your going with Pintechs the size is more personal choice I think.

I also placed my hi hat on a boom stand, this way I can position it in the most comfortable spot. (I use a boom stand so its not in the way of my pedals)

As for mounting, for all my Pintechs I use cymbal sleeves and felt, they will not fit on the ION mounts.

This is what I am referring to.

To keep your hi hat from spinning, either really tighten it down w/ extra felt or invest in an Aquarian Spring.

I used the 10" Pintech for my hi-hat (still using it, actually), and I've been very happy with it for two years now. When the stock cymbal I was using for ride started dropping notes, I upgraded both stock cymbals to the 14" Pintechs. Took a very brief time to get used to those since they're a little "floppier," but once I played 'em a couple of days I knew I made the right choice to get those over two more 10" cymbals for the ride/crash positions.
