    Question about harmonies

I have a question about harmonies that I don't recall ever being covered. If it has and this is old news, I apologize.

Okay, say you have a 2 or 3 part harmony going. Singer A starts off as the lead, but later in the song Singer B (or C) becomes the lead while Singer A moves to backup.
Does the game recognize this and then allow the player who is performing Singer B or C's part to become the main singer or does the person who started as Singer A sing all the main parts?

All present vocalists can sing any part of a chart. You aren't locked into contributing to only one of the pitch lines.

Wouldn't that be confusing though? I mean say one part is lower than the other and then two singers start singing one part while ignoring the lower register. I would think you should be given a certain part to avoid this type of confusion.

Well, that's what communication is for, since you're going to be in the same room as them. You can artificially assign parts amongst your friends, but it definitely helps how it currently is if one person is struggling with a section, but the backup vocalists don't have a part in that phrase, they can chime in and contribute. You can also go back and forth, say person1 is good at the melody in the verse and good at the harmony in the chorus, and person2 is the opposite, they can still play the song.
