Personally I hope it's all brand new tracks, I think the packs would perform MUCH better at retail if they were all 22-25 tracks with a 6 month exclusivity window before being added to the regular DLC.

never can figure out hmx's sale points.
Yeah, I never understood this either. However, for those who do not own those Country Tracks it would a cheap way to get more songs once it gets reduced in price due to slow sales, such as Lego:RB and Track Pack 2.

Seems odd they go through all this when they could just release a bumper online pack and save all those overheads. Unless the disc sales are actually better then perceived ?

The discs are used to fill up shelf space and keep up name recognition in stores.

Interesting perception. Every store I saw with Track Pack 2 had them hidden away in the racks until they hit super low price points. Never knew TP2 existed until then. L:RB I had on order since someone on another forum mentioned it.

Seeing how the cover art shown didn't have keyboard or harmony emblems, and it would be nothing short of absurd to release new songs in the old style, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume it's old songs.

    EDIT: Huh.

I don't see the point of these Track Packs either, but they're dirt cheap to produce, so if enough people buy them, why not?

I've been looking forward to this track pack ever since the poster was spotted at E3.

However, since it's confirmed to use a pre-RB3 setup (no keyboards or harmonies), but Harmonix isn't making any additional pre-RB3 DLC, it makes me wonder a little bit whether there are tracks being saved, or if some RBN songs will be filling the gaps (essentially being exclusive to the disc either permanently or for a short time for systems other than Xbox).

There's 41 country tracks right now, 21 of which were on the first country track pack, and one song coming from Lego RB. That leaves 19 tracks not featured on a disc yet, with 6 of those being one artist (Toby Keith). But... there's another 15 tracks in the RBN, 14 of which are currently only on the Xbox. I'd rather see all new tracks by well-known country artists, but I could see a handful of those RBN tracks being used to fill up a disc. It'd allow some of those country RBN tracks to be transferred in bulk, which could be nice since they'll probably not be transferred to the PS3/Wii any time soon as it is currently.

Just a thought. Can't wait to hear the details when HMX is ready to tell us.

Hey, what I said is the theory, not the execution.

Maybe they just figure that us country fans are so stupid and backward that we won't even notice that they're selling us an "expansion pack" for an outdated game they've, for all intents and practical purposes, quit supporting.

Good god. Does anybody at HMX even think these things through anymore? RB2 is defunct. Why sell an *RB2*-era track pack next year at all? Especially when there's plenty of country music that could be greatly enhanced with RB3 features --- keys, harmonies, and real-life finger-pickin' on Pro Guitar.

Because a Rock Band 3 Track Pack would require an all-new template and all new songs, while a Rock Band 1 Track Pack uses songs they've already licensed and charted, and takes next to no time or money to release. Apparently people still buy the PS2 and Wii versions (the ones that don't export), so they must be at least a little profitable.
