The vice cop takes bribes, overlooks crimes, gambles illegally, and is just generally a dick, yet he's a rockstar (no pun intended) in the department.
The vice cop is a "rockstar" because of his charisma, not his underhandedness.

Affable Cole, who everyone says is a great police officer, has a tryst with a lounge singer and he is persona non grata.
Big stigma in the timeframe, I think.

why is Cole cheating on his wife
I felt it was out of character for him, but it is explained by his post-war stress and that the tortured lounge singer is the only female he knows who can relate; he even mentions in DLC he's a sucker for blondes in casual chat with his partner. Even through all of this, I felt Cole betrayed his values and me by doing such a thing.

I just assumed he wasn't with her romantically (aka my headcanon) and he was framed for a relationship when it was a friendship.

But this doesn't explain why he couldn't confront his wife proper.

Just got finished with The Walking Dead Episode 1. I loved it and I am greatly looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

One thing I didn't really understand - why is Cole cheating on his wife the worst of all sins? The vice cop takes bribes, overlooks crimes, gambles illegally, and is just generally a dick, yet he's a rockstar (no pun intended) in the department. Affable Cole, who everyone says is a great police officer, has a tryst with a lounge singer and he is persona non grata. I get that it feeds the theme of his personal redemption from the atrocity he committed in the war, but Jack's the only one in the core story who knows about that.

Roy (the vice cop) covered his crimes well and was in with the Chief. When he (Spoilers) sets up Cole it's on orders from the Chief and part of the higher conspiracy. Essentially it was a smear campaign. While it realistically wouldn't have been enough to put him on the outs with the whole department, I'm sure the rumor was also put out the he was untrustworthy as a partner an a snitch, something that would turn fellow officers against him.

As to the affair I think it was pretty straightforward as to why he did it, it was just abrupt. It seemed the writers rushed it. In fact, several points in the game feel that way.

    Outland - PSN/XBLA

An interesting crossover between a 2D Platformer and a bullet hell SHMUP (shoot'em up.) You play as a man who is able to control his own life essence to align with either Light (Blue) or Darkness (Red). Each alignment grants you a shield against bullets of the same color, making transparent platforms of the same color become tangible, and the ability to attack enemies of the opposite alignment.

So far I've defeated one boss, and what was easy at first is starting to pick up pretty quickly in terms of difficulty. Often, red and blue bullets are mixed together, forcing me to make quick alignment changes to avoid being hurt. Finally clearing the seemingly impenetrable wall of color is truly a satisfying experience. Fighting enemies is just as entertaining. The combos you perform can be a simple three button tap slash or uppercut jump, slash in the air, then ground pound.

Here's a review if you want a look at the visuals, which are also awesome.

I love Outland, but I haven't beaten it for one reason: the bosses just get harder and harder. There's just no way the levels can prepare you for the extreme difficulty of the bosses.

And it has one of the most beautiful art styles/motifs I've seen in a downloadable game though. The only others that come close are Braid and Journey.

I got Enslaved: Odyssey to the west for 5 dollars on Amazon, and it arrived today. I've been playing this for a few hours, and what an absolute gem of a game. Beautiful art design, great characters, fun combat, this game definitely did not find the wider audience it deserves.

That one's sitting on my floor I bought it New from an Amazon retailer (not Amazon itself), yet the code for the DLC bonus had already been redeemed :@ I left the retailer a bad review. The glowing review is encouraging, though

Tonight I started Hydrophobia Prophecy and I AM ALIVE. So far so good on both. I really like the look and feel of Hydrophobia Prophecy, and I'm a sucker for any halfway decent game with a female PC. Especially an original game. And I dig chicks with accents too I'm a bit worried, though, that I only put an hour into it and it seems like I'm already a third of the way through the story.

I AM ALIVE is a doozy. I dig the aesthetic, or, perhaps more accurately, lack thereof. It's...really slow going. This game is not for everybody, and some people who play it are gonna absolutely hate it. But that's all a result of conscious design choices. Survival mode looks like an absolute ***** of a challenge I'm not sure I'll ever try (there's just one Gold trophy for it, for completing the game in Survival mode, and the game doesn't have a Platinum trophy). While this game is probably pretty short if you know exactly where you're going and what you're doing, I get the feeling it's very much not if you don't. So far, I am definitely sucked in.

Is Hydrophobia Prophecy the second Hydrophobia game? I'm eager to know if it is as short as the first one.

For $3, I figured I'd get it. Haven't played it yet, though.
