My summer Gaming drought checklist is:

    1. Play through Bioshock again
    2. finally play all of the Dragon Age: Origins expansions
    3. Finally actually beat ACII
    4. Play Borderlands after having had it for a year
    5. Beat Prototype II
    6. If I do all this, then I will buy the new Skyrim Expansion and probably a few arcade games over the summer.

So like now that I'm done with high school, I'm gonna finish up Silent Hill 2 HD, Catherine, and Mother 3.

Oh and lots of Rock Band.

Polished off the Jak trilogy. My thoughts:

Jak and Daxter is a classic in every sense of the word. It just gets everything right, and even though it's definitely aged stylistically, it's a must-play.

Jak 2 was a pretty ballsy move and I personally think it was the right thing to do in terms of aesthetic flair. Given how little detail they made light of in the first game and how saccharine it really was, sticking with it may not have been the best move. However, the game's very drawn out, it's too hard, the driving and shooting are very clunky and there's a lot of it...it's not that great. My save also kind of but not really corrupted so I couldn't finish it this time around, but once is enough in this case, I think.

Jak 3 was just weird. The game was by far the most varied entry, but it came at the cost of any story coherence, meaning the game is very entertaining, but not very engaging. It seems to me like Naughty Dog drafted the mission structure in terms of gameplay first, tried to make that work within the story, couldn't and just said "**** it, we'll do it anyway". The story seems very malformed, until the ending which is pretty awesome. Meanwhile, this variety also hurts the gameplay, or at least leaves me wondering what might have been. It seems like ND spent a lot of time on each of these different gameplay segments that you only ever play for five minutes each. Still pretty enjoyable, though.

I've made it my mission to play through every Sly, Jak and Ratchet game this year, I'm currently on Sly 2. So far? Assassin's Creed 1 before it existed. Way too repetitive.

Jak 2 was my personal favorite, though it's been a long, long time since I've played them.

Sly 2: Band Of Thieves. Um, okay, here we go.

The game has a lot of problems, both visible and under the hood. There are too many general bugbears, and too many instances where I died or failed and it wasn't my fault. Perhaps this is just a HD port problem, but the pop-in is terribly apparent. The levels, while not badly designed, are clearly made for Sly, so playing as Bentley and Murray, especially Bentley, is often a pain in the ass when navigating the open world levels.

But by far the biggest problem is that the game likes to waste your time. Had fun playing this hacking mini-game? Good, now do it four more times. Liked this tower defence game? Four more times. Want to climb that tower? Sorry, have to take a massive detour. Also, there are two occasions where you have to grind for money to buy items. There is just way too much filler. It got so bad that the mere act of playing the game was a chore. I originally compared this game to Assassin's Creed 1, but at least the climbing in that game remained fairly engaging, so if you ignored the missions as much as possible, there was still fun to be had. I think Sly 2 may have temporarily killed that part of my brain that's able to have fun.

Anything good? Well, the personality of Sly Cooper is endearing, and the fourth mission is the one where things are shaken up the most, giving the pace a nice kick up the ass. Generally, playing as Sly was okay. Some of the complex climbing was actually really good. But anything good about the game is easily washed down by the fact that there are so many detours. My Raptr playcount pegs it at around 8 hours, but playing this game made me think like an entire week had come and gone without me noticing at all. Um, don't play this.

Sly 2 is the only Sly game I played, and I played it when I was a kid. I didn't beat it (as a kid I rarely beat games), but I remember having tons and tons of fun with it. Might have to revisit it sometime.

My sister went to this convention called TooManyGames in Philly this past weekend. She got me a Japanese Super Famicom (SNES) copy of Super Metroid that has an English Language option. It's awesome so far on my FC Twin system~

Before that I was playing Crysis 2 (PS3)~ awesome shooter, loved going stealth and taking people out.. but I ended up returning it after a week~ wasn't anyone when I tried going online so I figured replay value for me wouldn't be that great

I've been playing Pikmin 2 for Wii. The new controls have their pros and cons. Using the Wiimote makes it easier to aim where I want to throw my pikmin but the C stick was easier for controlling where they go than pressing down on the d-pad and aiming.

As for the game itself, I love the brand names. Instead of collecting a random bottle cap you collect a Dr. Pepper bottle cap. And it doesn't feel like an advertisement being thrown in your face like GH 4 did. I also like the added challenge of the wells. Not too keen on the lack of a day limit. I guess it makes it better to give you a chance to explore everything but it makes the game way too easy when you can take a day to raise your numbers and not have to worry about it being a problem later.

GH WT had advertisements? I know Band Hero did, but WT never felt like they were pushing it in your face.

    And I HATE Dr. Pepper.
