Finally finished Assassin's Creed III. The ending wasn't what I expected. Ubisoft seems to have a problem with telling fans that the endings (in many of the AC games) will provide closure/answers and then failing horribly. AC3 is no exception.

Good news is they have announced they are working on a new one. Personally, was done with Desmond and Abstergo at the end of AC2, so with them out of the way, I'm stoked for whatever's next.

I thought it provided plenty of both. Not that I LIKED any of the closure or answers, but there was definite closure and lots of answers provided for both the Desmond and Ratonhaké:ton narratives.

I loved the endings to AC1 and 2. I hated the ending to Brotherhood, but we were supposed to hate that one. Revelations was, um...yeah.

It's hard to write a good ending. It's damn hard. And Ubi didn't crap up as bad as Bioware did in that other game where people don't like the ending :\ To whit,

Need For Speed: Most Wanted (the new one)

That's it, I've learned my lesson, no more Need For Speed games. Same complaint as The Run, the car physics are atrocious and borderline unplayable for me even for an arcade style game. The cars are way too stiff to drive which makes turning and avoiding traffic a complete headache, but then when you turn the joystick hard to overshoot it's stiffness, it becomes over-sensitive and you basically spin out or hit the closest wall. And god forbid you hit a patch of grass, that will ruin your day when you're a tenth of a mile from the finish and you suddenly lose 25 mph because you ran over some grass and the opponent cars fly by you, forcing you to have to re-do the entire race. At the very least, The Run had a replay feature so even if you mess up, you can go back and reset where you messed up without having to re-do the entire race, Most Wanted doesn't have that.

And then the actual single player mode feels just thrown together. Unlike the previous Most Wanted where the single player mode was really good and creatively put together, this game just completely gave that up. You pretty much just do a bunch of races/pursuits, gain XP, once you have enough you can race the next level Most Wanted car which is boring, stupid, repetitive and like I said, thrown together. Instead of putting so much effort into multiplayer, they should remember to put some effort into their single player because it's absolutely terrible and they should be ashamed.

Oh and customization is back which is cool, except it's completely dumbed down to practically nothing so they might as well not have put it in at all. This game just fails all around and this is the second NFS game I ranted on in the past couple weeks... not good at all. Luckily, we have GRID 2 coming out in a few months to show NFS how a racing game should be done.

Most Wanted is the Need For Speed game I want. I dont care about all the customization that was in the old games and Most Wanted is the Burnout Paradise 2 that we probably will never get and Burnout Paradise is the best racing game that was ever made.

Burnout Paradise wasn't even the best Burnout.

I probably spent 50+ hours easily on both Takedown and Revenge. I don't see all the hype surrounding Paradise though. A tad overrated. I'm more for realistic racing games (ie GRID/DIRT, Test Drive Unlimited, Driver), but if an arcade styled racing game is done right, it can be awesome (NFS pre-Carbon, Flatout, Midnight Club II) which speaking of greatest racing game ever, Midnight Club II would get my vote, even better than the NFS Underground games, but that might just be my nostalgia talking.

The best racing game is The Graveyard. Exhilarating speed.
It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.

I'm not a racing fan, so I don't really care that much. But my friends are all about Forza and Gran Turismo, mostly for the customization and tuning. I think they spend more time tweaking their cars than they do racing.

Mario Kart is the best racing game ever!*
