Oh god, I did like, the first chapter of it along with the audio forever ago, but then I fell out of it and forgot about it. I'll bookmark it...

The PS3s, via their system software, are able to fully emulate the functionality of the original Playstation. The original PSX is actually fairly easy to emulate in software and has been emulated for quite some time. Since the machine itself isn't all that powerful (in comparison to the PS3) and the creators of the PS3 had access to the specific build of the PSX, it was fairly easy for them to code the software emulator used to play most PSX games. Now there are some games that don't work fully (those that used some non-standard design), but the vast majority work.
The PS2, however, is a different beast. That system is fairly powerful and can not be easily/readily emulated in software. The PS3s that have PS2 backward compatibility had special hardware inside them to allow them to play the games. Basically, they had a PS2 motherboard inside. Sony found this to be a bit too costly and remove this fairly quickly in order to lower production costs, and in the end, cost to the consumer. As a result, for all PS3 Slims, there is no PS2 compatibility.

Started playing Batman: Arkham Asylum last night. Made it past the trippy first encounter with scarecrow.
Great game but I have one complaint that has plagued the current generation of games. My couch sits about twelve feet back from our 32 inch LCD TV. It's a comfortable couch and when I'm playing games I like to relax. It's perfect for TV viewing, but lately game developers have insisted on using the tiniest font size possible in their games and it drives me nuts. Instead of relaxing on the couch I have to lean forward so I can read the stupid menus and pop-up messages in the game. As a result I have a sore neck twice in as many weeks.
I like to think this is because the developers and testers are ususally sitting a couple of feet away from their screens so they don't notice these things. Even when they do sit farther back (like in a theater or something) they're using wall-sized screens. Either way they don't notice how small the fonts are and it doesn't get passed along. Also they're probably trying to make all the text fit on a single page but I don't think scrolling half a page to read something is a bad thing!
Weird Al Yankovich DLC please?

I think the tiny text has something to do with the PS3. I never noticed it on the Xbox and good luck reading anything in the PSN store.
Anyway, i finally picked up Ages again after taking a few days off to play with my new Windows Phone 7. I beat the 8th dungeon and now all i have left is the final one. I should be starting Seasons later today. Also i started Ocarina of Time, I couldn't find my N64 copy of it so into getting the re-release for GameCube because i like that controller better anyway, but its crazy expensive for what it is so i decided just to buy it on the Wii. It was only $10 and i can use my Game Cube controller so its all good.

Um Jammer Lammy. One of the most frustrating rhythm titles ever made.
But, for those that don't know, this doesn't mean any original (or fat) PS3 can play PS2 titles. A lot of PS3s that were made before the Slim edition also lack the backwards compatibility. Along with other things (like those neat card slots next to the disc drive).
