To quote David Byrne, "You may say to yourself, my God, what have I done?!?"
Found a $10 off coupon for Gamestop that expires today = drongo.
It just about covers the *1 day shipping* cost...
    Just. Shoot. Me.

Question: other than the price, what's wrong with buying an ION set? For drums, it's the best possible decision I've made yet. Your scores will jump after you get used to it. And then the Gear Acquisition Syndrome sets in...

    "I need another cymbal."
    "I need a better cymbal."
"I should get a better pedal."
"Hey, that HH+Kickbox does both kick trigger conversion and allows me to use a hi-hat pedal!"

    It's a slippery slope. I wouldn't change a thing. I think that you'll like them.

You're absolutely right. Got them today, set-em up, and love them. I suppose, this being the epic fail thread, I should mention I had them 1/2 way set up without directions (thought they were missing), then found them in the controller box *facepalm*

Main deterrent *was* the price. That, and the nagging voice in my head saying "is this really a sound decision for a 42 year old female whose only drumming experience was learned from Rock Band?" LOL

Best. Decision. Ever. For scores, that is. Going through my gold star list now, trying to 100% songs. Crossed a few easy ones off the list already. Just wish my RockPedal worked with it. Need to see if I can get a bigger jack for it :/

LOL...Same thing happened to me. All you should need for the Rock Pedal to work is a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. You can find them at a Radio Shack or most electrical/electronics stores for under $5, I believe. And if I remember right, mine came with one. You might want to check around your place for one that could have come with it.

You are, again, absolutely right. I did a little search, and found the adapter that came with it! Amazing what I keep around the house from October 2010. Found the beater, and the extra rubber stoppers, too. Can't have enough of those.

Now, got any advice on how to set up a double bass?

Not with the Rock Pedal, unfortunately. I got a Yamaha KP-65 and a HH+Kickbox (not all at once, mind you) and for my birthday last year, my wife got me an inexpensive double-pedal. That's the most seamless way to do it AFAIK. Doc_SoCal or DavidShek may (read: definitely will) know more than I. That's my experience, but that's also an additional $200-$300. All told, about $1100 has been spent on just my IONs.

Wow, think I'll hold off on the double bass for a while. Should really get the hang of these cymbals first Will keep all this in mind for the future, though. Thanks for all your help!!

It's always a pleasure to help out a fellow Rock Band addict.

On to my failure of the week.

Picked up some DLC last week including No More Tears. Love that song. Cruised to the bridge flawlessly on expert. Came out of the rolls at 4x though I had a few missed notes and probably an over hit or 2 during the rolls. I knew by my score that if I played the rest of the song perfectly, I would be in the top ten in scores which would have been a huge accomplishment for me. So I hit pause and took a few deep breaths. Resumed the song and for no reason at all, I pressed the base pedal and lost my multiplier and any shot of a top ten. Played the rest of the song perfectly and ended up in 12th. I guess I could also call this my victory of the week.

BTW, pretty sure this song is over-tiered.
    I love stories like this.

I'm 47 (just hit this past April 15th) and I got my XBOX + RB3 for my birthday last year. First console, first rhythm game. Love it beyond belief. Stories like yours make me feel right at home.

Feel free to add me, BTW. GT is same as here, Skyp1e.

I was trying to four-star Llama on expert pro keys, and I got within about 5k of it (not sure what the exact cutoff is, my score was 127k), that sucks. I also haven't been able to connect to rock central AT ALL for two days now.
