New DLC week of 1/08/08

Look man, how about when us Rockers party? We have to filter out all og the crap to play the metal. And metal is what is CHALLENGING. And most of the metal is coming as DLC. So screw that. My parties are cool. We rock. Rockers are what make this game popular. Metal fans are intense and loyal. Tha being said "Run to the Hills" is not even one of Maiden's top 20 songs, but it is their most mainstream. How much Bowie crap is on DLC? Be happy. There is plenty of watered down BS for non-rockers.

Heres where the biggest problem arises.

everyone likes different types of music for different reasons. Fair enough we all accept that.

The problem is the title of the game is Rock Band... and that leads people to think they are going to be playing solely rock songs. Which is a flat out lie. The GH line has taken the approach of appeasing the dire hard fanatics who just want insanely tough music that isnt fun to play or listen to really.

As such i wouldn't be surprised if GH4 has a slightly toned down more musical set...or even worse if in the future they break the game up into 2 sub games:
--- one for dire hard metal people who want hard music at the expense of fun music
---the other for for people who liked games like dance dance revolution and just want another 50+ songs to jam out to and dont really care if its harder or not as long as its fun.

As for rockband HMX is doing a killer job of appeasing both sides. while some people dont like 30s to mars cause its whiney/emo those are the same people who want hardcore metal songs like number of the beast, and the metallica song pack, all of which ive downloaded but rarely play because its not fun to play stupid hard songs for me, i enjoy musical songs. And its been said 1000 times, if you dont like the songs dont download them, but remember for every song you dont download i garuntee theres one on your list i wont because i wont enjoy it.

On a personal aside, while metal fans may be die hard/hard core, theres a real reason why those types of bands are not as popular these days and have always had a smaller drawing of fans then and now compared to other bands. So in my eyes it would be silly to just release songs for the 10% of RB players who want another guitar hero game with insane guitar parts that really arent that fun.

in my own defense, i beat guitar hero 1, 2, 80s, and am on cult of personality on expert and i have stoped enjoying the game because when i get frustrated at a MUSIC game for being to hard its not worth my time.

Anyone know what time (Central Time Zone) the DLC gets updated on Playstation Store? It's kind of aggravating that XBox gets it several days earlier. For the hard-core competitive folks (not me!), it would seem like a totally unfair time advantage to rack up days worth of practice and points. Anyway, shouldn't be a big deal, but it bugs me, and I'm sure others too. I don't think you can blame Harmonix, so come on Sony! I'm on vacation today and want to play the new STP song! Time to go to the Playstation forum and whine about this...

How so?

I can't think of a single song in Rock Band (DLC included) that would be considered anything but a part of the extremely broad "rock" category. Not one.

If someone came to it expecting METALMETALMETAL, I can see being disappointed, but the reality is that they published the list of songs--and the first five weeks of DLC releases--well before the game launched, and it was clear from the very beginning that they were painting this game with a broad brush, touching on as many genres and sub-genres of the rock category as you can with 58 songs.

If you didn't know going in what this game was going to be providing, then you didn't do your reseach.

Research? Why would I do a silly thing like that? From the title of the game it obviously is going to have all the songs I love and none of the songs I hate. Didn't you know I define what "rock" is and isn't?

It varies. Usually between 6 and 8 EST time I find. I get home around 5:30 from work and it's normally not up yet. But by eight or nine I've found that is.

I don't think it's anyones fault. You can blame Sony because they only update on Thursdays, or you could blame HMX for not releasing new stuff to PS3 users the Thursday before. Both are silly though, imo. It's just 2 days. Think of it as an opportunity to research if you really want that song.

I've tried to join Blamers Anonymous but those buttheads can't seem to schedule a meeting that isn't completely inconvenient, and the parking they validate for is way too far from the building. What a bunch of screw-ups.

When is Harmonix going to release a release schedule for Rock Band's upcoming DLC as they had from Nov until the end of Dec? Also, when will we know about when the full albums will be released as DLC and which Metallica album will be part of the full album DLC?
