To be fair, Samael is Blackened Disco Metal.

I don't think we really see pure post-metal get any more attention than it got a couple years ago.
Well, this is part of what I mean. I think we'll continue to see the fusion of it into other genres and that will come out on top, mainly because the nature of the genre is long songs which doesn't really work for radio. I say the Alcest and Amesoeurs model comes out on top.

Well, What I mean like actually turning the radio on and bam, pray for plagues by Bring me the horizon is playing. I havent seen that yet, and when this happens, then i'll say its mainstream. Along with the idea if a metal band in this genre were to ever play a national event like the super Bowl. Think about that. Say The devil Wears Prada playing that. It could happen, but thats the kind of mainstream I mean.

    Probably wont happen though.

All I can say is don't get your hopes up. I highly doubt that will ever happen, and if it does, I pray to god it's not Bring Me the Horizon leading the charge.

In my opinion, their the biggest metal band out there. Along with bands like Parkway Drive, The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, and so forth. Its possible. People said the same thing when the Beatles came here 50 someodd years ago. Anything is possible in the music world.

The Beatles? Not true at all. Metal is too macho and testosterone-driven. It doesn't appeal to the majority of females out there. Thus, it will never gain the mainstream support you're talking about.

Bring Me he Horizon?!? Asking Alexandria?!? The Devil Wears Prada?!? Biggest Metal bands out there?!? This statement does not compute.

In all seriousness though, I would've put Opeth and Mastodon as among the biggest Metal Bands out there (aside from Metal Legends from the 60's to the 90's that are still around and/or reformed today).

Right, but the Beatles came in and took America by storm when the American music scene was at it's most stale (The "Golden Age Of Rock N Roll" from the 50's was over, Payola decimated the way radio stations were operated as well as what they can play, The height of Motown music wasn't there yet nor was the British rock invasion that was paved due to the success of the Beatles, and the scene was filled with bland manufactured Teen pop stars) and even then, The Beatles started out with a relatively played safe music style, things changed when s*** happened throughout the 60's.

They did water down Metal into a Hit machine in the 80's with Hair bands making ballads. So it can be done in theory though it's highly unlikely the record lables would go this route when they can market talentless girls that are supposed to be eye candy, watered down versions of hip-hop, and Nickleback and/or Train clones that write stale pop-rock...

...at least until the major labels go bankrupt after the pass that point of no return. After that point, anything can happen.

Alcest and Amesoeurs have nothing to do with post-metal...
