I just found an article which reported a new Squier Stratocaster guitar with USB interface.
It is possible to use it with iOS devices (iPhone, iPod), to record with Garageband for example.

It is in about the same price range as the RB3 Squier Strat (albeit the RB3 one was more complex, had a more complicated pickup and fretboard sensors).
It think this is interesting because it shows that it is still possible to get Fender into producing these custom Stratocaster guitars.

There's a page about it at Fender's site here. Kind of a silly product, as there are plenty of those USB guitar cables on the market (including the one for Rocksmith), though I suppose that there's more general appeal than the RB3 Squier. At $200 list ($80 less than the RB3 Squier) it's the same price as their bottom-of-the-line Squier Bullet Strat, so I wouldn't expect anything much in the way of quality.

In a bizarre move, it's being sold solely through the Apple store.

Does this "Apple Squier" have the same sensors in the fretboard as the RB Squier?

I fear not, which would make it a inferior product...

So, I'm looking for a RB3 guitar for PS3...is it just me or is that an impossible task right now?

Prospects look pretty dim. People are taking advantage of the scarcity and the prices for available new ones are way overblown. The best deal that I see online is this one for an RB2 plastic Strat, which is only twice as much as a new RB3 one should cost (RB2 and RB3 models are pretty much identical, though the RB3 one may contain an improved OD sensor). I assume that you want one with auto-calibration sensors.

I saw this earlier, Groupalicious has an offer for a Rock Band Mustang Guitar Bundle for XBOX including the Mustang Pro Guitar, Rock Band 3 Game, and 5 downloadable tracks (I think from Red Hot Chili Peppers) for $59. It expires tonight on Nov 24 2012.

It's pathetic that while not coming out with new rock band games, they still stopped manufacturing the wii rock band 3 guitars, so now you have to eithe rpay hundreds of dollars to individual sellers or you can't even get a guitar which will work with all rock band wii games. They just go a little while supporting thigns and then leave people with no options after a while. Either make a new RB game with new guitars or stop dumbly ceasing manufacturing possibilities. All I have is GH guitars, so no auto0calibration and no compatibility with the original rock band for wii.

just go a little while supporting things

    5 years of DLC

    wut....

also the instruments are made by MadCatz, complain to them
my love is like a candle, if you forget me, i will burn your damn house down.

If madcatz refuses to make them, then it goes back to HMX's fault by not making a new game or getting a new manufacturer. The fact that they still sell DLC is a reason why they SHOULD be ahving isntruments pumped out still. People's insteruments will break eventually and people will go off on HMX for charging them for all those songs and then giving them no way to play them.

You make a valid point. Hopefully we can get a better company to make instruments though. The mustang is a horrible POS I don't care what people say it is the most unnatural "guitar" ever.
