With all due respect Mr. Pope, but I think what some people are upset about is that they were hoping they would be able to pick and choose from these HMX songs.

Personally, I loved playing "A Jagged Gorgeous Winter", "Night Lies" and "Conventional Lover" on RB2, while I loathed playing "Visions" on anything apart from vocals. No offense to your co-workers, I'm sure they're awesome people, but some make the kind of music I enjoy while others do not.

Now, when these HMX songs were excluded from the all or nothing RB2 export, I think a number of people (myself included) were under the impression that we'd be able to get back the songs we loved, while being able to say farewell to the song(s) we didn't particularly care for. Regardless if they were for free or not.

I hope this response is helpful in some sort of way. Rock on! \m/

Edit: Looks like Magnet beat me to it. But I still hope this post is helpful to someone somewhere.

May 20th, 2012: 4 long years since HMX released "Hysteria" by Muse. The wait for more Muse DLC has to end at some point, right?

    Mmmm...terrible spoiled stew....

    *uncontrollable drooling*

Personally, I don't get what all the fuss is about either. These are old tracks that we've played a hundred times. For me, the return of the HMX DLC is more akin to finding a pair of some old, comfy slippers previously thought lost. Why, oh why, didn't my slippers come with pro upgrades?? See how silly that sounds?

Plus, I doubt HMX would provide the pro upgrades free of charge - at least not the guitar charts and those would appear to be the only upgrades that might be worth the effort here.

It was delayed to get the files under an arbitrary download size limit on the 360. Those were the least important files, so they were dropped to be re-added later as a new 'pack.'

Once again, the game is compromised on all plats because of one plat.

With the pack as it is, you have two choices - get them all or get none. (Unless you're on Wii...then the choice has apparently been made for you). How is what I said not accurate?

I don't get why it's apparently such spoiled behavior for anyone to want a Rock Band library song full of songs they actually like. If I don't like a song, I don't want it in my library regardless of whether it is free or not. I would like some of those songs back in my library, but not all of them. I don't see what's so hard about this. Is there any coherent reason not to offer them as individual singles? If so, lay it on me and I'll shut up.

While not raging, and certainly happy to see the return of these HMX songs, I too have to admit to being disappointed and a little confused at the lack of RB3 updating for them. I'm having trouble figuring out why these songs were delayed for so long when they're just straight exports.

And I've gotta say, I'm with Magnet 100% on this. Post-RB3-release songs come with keys/harmonies/etc. It's an expectation that I agree Harmonix has set and directly reinforced with us repeatedly. It's given fact at this point. As such, I don't think we're in the wrong for assuming that the post-RB3-release HMX pack would have those same rules applied, given the lack of any previous communication saying so - a communication lack that I find puzzling, since the lack of upgrade can't have been a surprise discovery this morning.

I love you guys, I really do, but since RB3 came out, I feel there have been several communication holes and a lot of bad reactions and feelings that could have been circumvented with simple clarification before the fact. When that doesn't happen - and it clearly didn't here - I don't think it's fair to lay all the blame on this side of the fence.

Now how the community reacts to these things, well, that's another issue entirely.

While this is true (and HMX does have to shoulder responsibility for the results of their own actions), these songs are still technically RB2 'exports'. And none of those songs received any updated information other than maybe the Pearl Jam song.

However, given the delay, it shouldn't have been surprising that many people thought it was because they were being remastered for RB3. Cutting two to three hundred megs off of the 1.93 file size only goes so far. And delaying the release into the new year instead of making it immediately available as a separate pack was also a terrible choice. And HMX should be called out on their terrible choices.

Regardless, in absence of any previously official statement by HMX to the contrary, expecting that these songs would be RB3 Versions and getting angry when they weren't is all on 'us'. This happens too many times for too many subjects.

Still looking for an answer for us wii users. We paid for the RB2 export, too, and were led to believe we would get these tracks, too.
