So, can we ever expert Pro guitar songs that use frets higher than the 17 available?

EXPECT* pro guitar songs I meant

Is there any chance that we'll get songs using higher frets than the 17 available? Honestly I don't mind the 17 fret limit, but I hope this does not eliminate the chances of getting songs that use those higher frets, if only during a guitar solo or something of the sort.

I've really been wanting to rock out to 'Bark at the moon' and to my knowledge, there's only one part of the solo that uses a fret higher than the 17th on the E string (18th fret), and I would literally want to cry if that song was eliminated just because of THAT.

I'd like to see some cheating if possible (keep it the 17th fret and if someone complains, tell 'em its a bend who cares). I just hope this doesn't limit some songs because a lot of great rock/metal songs from the past love to use some high notes, which clearly they must've thought of.

Hooray, only had to login 4 times before the forums let me post.

...back on topic. I understand that the Squier has 22 frets and songs that use frets above 17 are charted differently on it than on Mustang. I know that doesn't answer the question in regards of the Mustang but I cannot seem to remember how they said the 17 fret limit is compensated on it. However, I'm sure that the issue has been addressed earlier so hopefully somebody has a better memory and can tell you how it is.

There is already stuff in the game that goes beyond 17th fret but is played in different octave on mustang.
Game recognizes automatically which controller you are using, don't fret

There's an official Harmonix podcast on the subject that you should listen to. There's already a bunch of songs in the game with stuff above the 17th fret, they just let you play it one octave done on the fretboard. All songs have two charts, one for the Squier and one for the Mustang.

So the Squier is going to be getting different charts? I was thinking to getting the squier anyway since I'm getting kinda annoyed with the crappy strings on the mustang. Guess I'll just have to see. Thx for the input.

Correct! And yes, I agree about the strings. I have a preorder for the Squier and am getting rid of my Mustang as soon as it gets here.

Technically, only the charts that go higher than fret 17 have a separate MIDI track for the Squier note data. This was a brilliant way to implement it though.

Even on medium some of the charts use past the 17th fret on the Squier. I've played them myself via the Best Buy demo and I'm sure ricecake, the solo owner of the Squier, can also triple confirm.

I haven't played any songs on medium, only expert. But, some of the charts definitely go all the way up to the 22nd fret. For example, the solo of Sister Christian.
