    Hitting the Proverbial Brick Wall

Let me first say that, I'm a challenge chaser. So when I found all those goals available to achieve in RB3, I was quite thrilled! I didn't actually start ACTIVELY getting the goals until about the end of December...although I had a nice bit of them completed before then, just playing through the songs on guitar and such. However, I feel that I have now hit a brick wall. I'm afraid that I won't be achieving every single goal that's available. I've played through all the instruments (except for Pro guitar/bass...waiting for the Squier) and am very close to Perfectionist on all of them (regular Vocals, I am Perfectionist on), but...I don't know that I will actually complete the rest of the goals.

For example, 5*-ing songs on Expert on the various instruments...unless I invest a lot of time with certain songs, which I'm not entirely sure I can/want to do, I probably will not 5* all the on-disc songs. The Harmony goals? I maybe know of one other singer that I could get the Double Awesome challenges done on SOME of the songs (if she doesn't know the song, I doubt she's going to sing it), but I don't know if I know 2 people that could sing some of those 3-part harmony things, and once again, if it's a song they don't know, I doubt it will even be attempted.

If you are not a Completionist, what are your "brick wall" stories? How many goals do you have done? If you are Completionist, how much time did you have to invest?

I've about reached this point as well. I've worked on bass for about a month or so now and it isn't individual achievements, it's individual songs within the achievements (Jerry Was A Race Car Driver). How long do I continue to work at that? IDK. It may simply be a matter of not playing that song, trying to get better by playing others and coming back to it. I started guitar as well, but not anywhere near Expert Level yet.

Then I stop and think, do I REALLY need to do this? Is it worth the time spent to learn the song?

Same with drums, which is my chosen instrument.

Since I just picked up my Pro cymbals and will be getting the keyboard in a day or two, a whole sleu of goals are now available to me. Before that though I hit pretty much the same wall. My main instruments (plastic guitar and bass) both are 1 goal short of complete. There are just a couple songs I can't five star on either instrument. These songs I don't particularly care for and am disinclined to practice (the exception being Beast &The Harlot; really like the song but still miss enough notes in the fast sections to lower my score). Somebody else would have to get vocal and harmony goals for me cause I suck at singing and have all the goals I'm likely to get already. Don't care for non-pro drums because I play real drums and playing without cymbals made me feel awkward and like I had to unlearn the drums. Now that I have cymbals, though, I'll likely go after those as well.
But I believe in this and it's been tested by research: he who [edit] nuns will later join the church.

There are some goals I just skipped over, because the annoyance factor outweighed any enjoying in getting it. Which is fine, that's why the game offers more goals than you actually need to get completionist status.

This is what I usually do, and it seems to work out well for me. I've tried grinding songs to pass them/improve on them but I usually just get frustrated and the fun factor goes down 100 fold. I really, really, really dislike grinding anything in any game, so ignoring the song for a bit and coming back to it works wonders for me.

However if it's a song I enjoy, I try playing it once a day in practice mode. Eventually, things start clicking and slowly I'm able to pass it. Practice really does make perfect, who wudda thunk it!

You don't have to beat all goals to get to 1 billion fans, at least not if you have DLC/export related goals.

There's definitely some goals I'm never going to get. 5-starring all disc songs on expert on solo and harmony vocals? Fine. Any other instrument? No. There's always at least a few songs I struggle with. As an example, I'm pretty good at bass, but I'm not getting 5 stars on Jerry Was a Race Car Driver on expert bass. Ever. I accept this, but that also means I can't get that goal.

There's plenty of goals I have gotten though, and others I can get if I work on it. I am pretty sure I can get to 1 billion fans, so I'm not really worried about it.

Expert Pro instruments will be my brick wall. Also the goals of hitting every double & triple harmony in some/all songs. I know other singers, but none willing to learn each harmony section that well. I'm up to 558 million fans, and I've barely touched drums or seriously pursued Pro Keys. I start Pro Guitar/Bass when my Squier arrives in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that there are enough DLC goals to help me get to 1 mill without putting in the massive time required to get those tough expert level goals.

I feel like anyone with the skill to be a high level Expert on at least one instrument and to be able to consistently 5* all but the toughest songs on Hard for the other instruments has every right to be considered a Completionist.

Honestly, I didn't know you could reach Completionist status without achieving every single goal in the game...this is good news to me!

On all the instruments (except for Pro guitar/bass), it's either 5*-ing songs on Expert, or doing training goals on the Pro drums/keys...there are only 2 modules in the 3rd section of the Advanced Keys training that I need to do...but have not been able to pull off, and not sure if I can, 'cause it's just too fast.

I actually think I could possibly 5* Free Bird on Expert guitar...but that's just such a long song to have to practice..even if I skip the beginning part and just practice the solo, the solo is still such a long solo. Don't even get me started on Antibodies....

The crappy thing is, on Pro Drums and Pro Keys, there are a few songs on Hard I haven't 5* yet, which really makes me sad. I was hoping I could 5* everything on Hard.

It's even easier if you plunk down more money on legacy DLC, or find the track pack discs which will give you lots of goals on the cheap.

Take a look at my spotty progress: http://www.rockband.com/users/TheHun...Headache/goals

And it still got me to Completionist. I can tell you, the women's Completionist top is worth it.

    Still...thank you for the music

Unfortunately, I'm on the Wii version, so I don't have access to as many goals, since there's only the RB2 and GDRB imports, though I could do the DLC thing...I have quite a bit of DLC already.

I still think I should be able to reach 1 billion though, once I get the Squier and do some Pro Guitar/Bass goals.
