    Gowienczyk's Grunge Thread

DISCLAIMER: Since as of recent we have had a surge of people who enjoy grunge and discussion to it has been limited to the most popular "scene" bands in the movement rather than the music style itself (and lesser known music) I thought I'd throw together this thread. Good idea? I hope. Anyway! Grunge is a scene, subculture and music genre (arguably) that was based in the late eighties and early nineties.

I know a bit more and some of these bands jumped over different styles, Coffin Break and 7YB started as punk bands, Soundgarden's debut was their only grunge effort, Alice in Chains started in the heavy metal scene and so forth. SO YEAH LETS START THE GRUNGE TALKING! How about it?

Layne Staley has one of the most haunting voice's I've ever heard in certain songs.

as i think i mentioned earlier i've been jamming my old babes in toyland cd's in the car lately, and though not all of it can be called grunge it's all good stuff.

    does anyone here like hole?
i've been considering looking up their material that i missed out on (i only had "live through this" and a dubbed VHS of their unplugged performance) to see if there's anything good there (i like a few songs from "LTT" and a few of the tunes played on unplugged).

I don't like them, but I've heard they're getting back together.
Not removing this until we get some Sunn O)))
in which case this will be on for a while.

they really lost me on the follow-up to "LTT". i didn't hear the entire thing, but what i heard was pretty awful.

i've heard about half of "pretty on the inside", but it's been over a decade and it wasn't too memorable for me at the time.

I'm kind of sad, because I read that Screaming Trees are on GH5.
