Right now, I lean towards Adrian Gonzalez as the AL MVP.
With Reyes and Murphy hurt, I think I'm watching Mets games now to see if we'll throw a no-hitter.

i give a vote to curtis granderson. the sawks have so many good players that they almost cancel each other out. they have a trio of gonzo, ellsbury and pedroia who should take votes away from each other. meanwhile granderson has been arguably the best player for the yanks this year. cano has been steady, not dominant. teixeira has been good, not great.

AL MVP:I agree, Curtis Granderson (I hate the Yankees for pulling that one off)
AL Cy Young: Who else but Verlander?
NL MVP: Honestly couldn't pick one... Maybe Prince Fielder?
NL Cy Young: Halladay, Probably.

I say Ryan Vogelsong should at least be considered for the NL Cy Young. I don't even remember the last time he didn't put up a quality start. Plus, the Giants have won in what? All 12 of his last starts? It's ridiculous how dominate he's been. Also, a 2.19 ERA isn't too shabby for a guy having a comeback season.

tonight is the last time he didn't have a quality start. nice job mega hahaha. way to jinx the poor bastard.
hamels is a good candidate. but he doesn't get a lot of pub since he's behind halladay and lee in the phillies rotation.
so reyes is back on the DL. once again, its the hammy. he can't stay healthy for a full year but he is gonna expect a huge, long term deal? i still say that the mets should've traded him at the deadline. great player when healthy but he's not getting any younger. or healthier.

As a Mets fan, I'm extremely glad the team didn't trade Reyes and it's imperative that they sign him to another deal this offseason, for a variety of reasons. On the field, Reyes is the most important offensive piece this team has had since Piazza, and Strawberry before him (albeit for different reasons). When he's healthy and productive (stealing bases, scoring runs, etc.), the team is much, much better. I don't remember the exact numbers, and I don't feel like looking them up, but in games throughout his career in which Reyes scores a run, the team's winning percentage is off the charts; I want to say it's somewhere in the mid-to-high .600s, and it's even more ridiculous when he scores in the first. Ruben Tejada is a solid defensive shortstop, but an average hitter and not particularly fast; Angel Pagan has said he's not comfortable in the leadoff spot this year, and that's reflected in his numbers batting first as opposed to fifth or sixth in the lineup (his leadoff home run yesterday notwithstanding). His injuries since '08 are a concern (up until then, he consistently played over 150 games), but right now they work as leverage in negotiations for the Mets. Besides that, I'm not sure I've seen anything resembling a healthy season from the Mets in a few years. Even with his two DL stints, Reyes has played more games (98) this year than anyone else on the Mets besides Daniel Murphy (who he will most likely surpass, now that Murphy is done for the year). The next closest guy on the team in terms of games played (not counting Beltran, who played 98 before being traded) is Jason Bay, with 86. I feel that Reyes' injuries, while frustrating because they always affect his left hamstring, become so much more magnified than they really are because he's so important to the team. Missing him for 30 games is bad enough; losing him for a whole season because they don't want to resign him could only be worse.
Besides that, Reyes is an attraction for this team. I heard a few Mets "fans" say that if the team traded Reyes, they'd stop watching. Right now, the Wilpons can't afford losing people at the gate and what not. Even if Reyes gets the "Carl Crawford money" that everyone keeps throwing around when talking about him, I think the Wilpons would get a higher return on their investment.

agree with this for AL Cy. And Jacoby has to be a serious frontrunner for AL MVP. He could quite possibly hit more HRs than AGon, put in 100 RBIs, and of course has the swipes...all from the top of the order. That is serious productivity, no doubt about it. Crossing my fingers he keeps up this pace.
