yeah, Im glad the Gonzalez experiment in RF is over (not to mention interleague play). not so coincidentally, I think, Gonzalez hits a HR.

I knew the Sox weren't going to get **** from the White sox by simple virtue of the fact that the White Sox have nothing in their system to really offer. I expected the Sox to give a nickel for 2 pennies, and they did. But paying $5 mil of Youk's remaining salary pisses me off, even if he's in a semi steady decline. This is pretty tellin of how much of a clubhouse problem he was creating.

And in 2007, I was right with you on that. But in '04, jeez man. Like I said, hard

Considering how bad the Mariners have looked at times the past decade +, I'd say that our complaints are legitimate, especially those directed at our own team.

doing some research on this 'Youkilis situation', Im starting to get the impression the guy was largely creating this drama over his playing time and the clubhouse. He started 23 of 30 games since he came off the DL, and appeared in 24 of those games. There was also a stretch where he started 18 of 20 games, so it's not like he was being buried on the bench. But then, after only being sat for 3 straight games did Youkilis suddenly "not know his role".

I can't personally say what Bobby V's clubhouse policy is, but I cant imagine him closing his doors to players. My gut tells me that Youk just wasn't interested in talking to Bobby.

Point being; if the media takes this as another opportunity to use the Red Sox front office as a punching bag, shame on them. There's already been twitter talk of how one hopes "the Sox don't burn someone on their way out the door." Bull. ****.

Zach Stewart has now been a part of trades for Scott Rolen, Edwin Jackson* and Kevin Youkilis. Pretty impressive company for a non-prospect.

*You could replace Jackson with Colby Rasmus depending on how you want to look at it.

I'm happy for his success. He was one of the highlights of the utterly dismal 2008 Mariners season, and being that he's 37, I can't be too upset that he's no longer with the club (although knuckleballers, ****, he might have another 10 years in him).
Besides the fact that I'm a Mets fan, I don't think there's any baseball player I'd like to sit down and have a conversation with more than R.A. Dickey. The guy is pretty damn smart, and he just seems like a nice person.

And I don't know how much you know about his personal history, but let's just say he'd have some stories to tell. (He told a few in that interview I referred to) And, uh, unless I'm remembering someone else, some stories you might not want to hear...

edit - Nope, I'm thinking of the right person. Not gonna link to it. Google 'RA Dickey book' if you really want to know what I'm referring to.
