You realize Prince is going to Washington right? He's just waiting to see if anyone is dumb enough to offer him more.

They traded a Stud young Pitcher playing at Major League level for a prospect catcher when they could've easily traded prospect pitchers instead.

you can either have pineda and he wins 13 games or your offense improves. can't have it both ways cuz fielder coming to town is a pipe dream.
The Mariners Offense is still going to be putrid for at least a couple of seasons. A player like Fielder would've corrected it in a shorter span because pitchers would try to pitch around him, although he likely won't be a Mariner because who in their right mind would want to sign with an organization that trades young Major League Calliber players for prospects?

As it is now, the Mariners still don't have any player remotely close to that level and as a result they're still going to be a ****ing embarassment to baseball on offense next year. Take away Pineda's 13 projected wins from a team that would've been lucky to win 62 games next season and suddenly they look like a potential all-time futile team.

and in case they do sign him, then you'll go off about the last 3-4 years of his contract weighing down the payroll.
I'll still be complaining about Figgins' contract if he is somehow on the roster 4 years from now. 18 million dollars and the guy doesn't even try. What kind of example is he setting for these prospects?

Prince Fielder will be rocking out those sweet "Natinals" jerseys and terrorize the National League now that Pujols is in the AL

I say if you hit Ackley, 2nd Smoak, 3rd and montero 4th you have an improved Smoak and no need for Prince.

I put the commas in the wrog place but you get the point.

see that's the thing. the yanks needed someone ready to start right now. the m's have good pitching depth but they're not ready. the only way to get a hitter like montero is to get him while he's a prospect(who is major league ready right now, like tonight ready). if montero plays for a season and does the things most everyone believes he is capable of, the price will be higher than pineda.

from the little article off the seattle tims: I saw him compared to the following players by various scouts, major-league executives, major-league coaches and managers, analysts and writers:

    --Miguel Cabrera--Manny Ramirez--Mike Piazza--Frank Thomas--Bo Jackson--Alex Rodriguez--Albert Pujols--Robinson Cano--Edgar Martinez--Joe Mauer--Bryce Harper

That line-up looks like 3 easy outs for the opposing pitcher. The M's are better off building a time machine and abducting Ken Griffey Jr. circa 1996 and plop him into the line-up behind Smoak. Even then, there are no guarantees that Smoak's batting average will go up by a significant amount.

Well they have to do something. Only having good pitchers and no hitting at all hasn't been working at all. They need to shake it up and now they have someone who will be a clubhouse leader. By all accounts Jesus is someone you want in your clubhouse.

I'd have preferred that they draft good hitters/position players in the draft. That or trade prospects for prospects. Either way, they traded more than they should've for a catcher that has issues fielding and who's hitting strengths don't match up to his new home venue.

Like I said the Red Sox tried for years to match the team to the strengths of Fenway and as soon as they realized they only play half of the games there they won.
