Worth pointing out that last night, the Mariners' top two minor-league affiliates also had flirtations with no-hitters. Erasmo Ramirez carried a no-hit bid into the 8th inning for AAA Tacoma, losing it with two outs. Danny Hultzen for AA Jackson pitched 8 shutout innings, striking out 8, walking only 1, and allowing just 2 hits.

One last tidbit about the no-hitter: Wilhelmsen said afterward he didn't know it was a no-hitter until catcher Jesus Montero jumped into his arms. And you can tell by watching his reactions. He sees Dustin Ackley throw out the final batter at first, does a very generic glove/fist-pump like "yeah, we beat the Dodgers, awesome" and then out of nowhere Montero practically tackles him Better than his other notable "brain fart" this season, when he was pitching bases-loaded-one-out, and induced a tapper to the mound for a picture-perfect 1-2-3 double play. He instead threw to second, and Ackley missed the bag (he understandably wasn't expecting a throw). No outs on the play, lead blown, and the Mariners went on to lose.

'course, I'd rather he had no mental flatulence whatsoever, but forgetting it's a no-hitter isn't so bad. Might actually be good. Loosens him up a little.

Ervin Santana is really starting to piss me off. He gets 6 runs of support in the first 2 innings and manages to blow it after just 2 innings.
It should still be a 6-1 game going into the 3rd inning but he had to be stupid and walk the pitcher with 2 outs and then allow a 3 run homer and a 2 run homer.

Wow, that is bad when a team gets swept by a team that doesn't exist anymore. Must remember to use this when the Mariners get swept by the Natinals in the event that those two teams play each other in a 3 game series. (Won't be this season)

In my nightmares, that's who the Mariners play when they finally do make a World Series (in 2035 or something).
