deal is apparently off. guessing Sox didn't like the medicals...and no wonder. the guy can barely stay healthy. why the Sox were going after a health-risk when they already have two pitchers down (Daisuke and CBuch), one guy who's unknown (Lackey) and a 40-something year old knuckerballing question mark is beyond me....

I would say that hopefully the M's got some good prospects but considering that it's the Sawks, there really isn't much in their farm system as far as prospects are concerned. I am surprised that Bedard made it to the trade deadline without being put on the DL for the season though.

Did Alomar give an umpire one of his "personal autographs" again?

Can you Red Sox fans tell us anything about Chih-Hsien Chiang? Any Dodgers fans here that can say anything about Trayvon Robinson? As far as Josh Fields, for the benefit of Red Sox fans.....he's nothing special. He's 26, was in AA this season, has been a reliever all his career, sure he throws hard, but he was never going to be anything more than maybe a September callup.

He was a top prospect. A hard-hitting outfielder who may get a lot 30+ home run seasons in when he hits the majors full-time. Trading him was a controversial move.
If these walls could talk, the stories they'd tell,
and if they did, there'd be a whole lot of hell.

yeah, the Sox were clearly desperate for a pitcher, given the aforementioned injuries and question marks in the rotation. for what it's worth, Yanks were in on Bedard as well, and at least he has AL East experience. Hope it works out.

winterbeast....Chih-Hsien Chang could do something for you. He's a 23 year old OF in AA who up until this year put up pretty meh stats through his ml seasons, but apparently the Sox got him a Taiwanese nutritionist, he got his diabetes stabilized, and now he's having a break out season. His SLG % this year is off the wall....he's the guy a lot of Sox fans are griping about losing.

Tim Federowicz could catch in the majors right now, but his bat is the question.

As for the Sox minor leagues, Im obviously speaking from some level of bias here, but I respectfully disagree about the state of their farm system. While not full of can't miss prospects like the Royals, Rays and Braves systems, the Sox year-in-and-year out have solid depth. Why do you think they're always in the running for big trade targets (AGon anyone?). They always have pieces that other teams are interested in. Would say they usually have a top 12 farm system, and assuming they sign their notable draft picks this year, the system should be put right on track.

    f*ck

looks like Bedard will have ot be more than a stopgap. Im a bit concerned about the Sox' chances. NL won the All-Star game, which means at worst Sox would have to play 4 games without a DH (i.e. no Ortiz) were they to make the Series, which in turn means they really need a solid pitching rotation to depend on. Sorry, but dont see Wakes and Miller filling that role, and Lackey is a coin flip--though his second half is typically better than his first, and he's got playoff experience.

give us all you that you got, Bedard.
