it's official. adam wainwright is done for the year. tommy john surgery is in his future. a damm shame to see him go out. this big an injury woud seem to knock the cards down to 3rd place behind the reds and brewers.

not sure on the amount of wins but its a huge loss for the cards. you don't just replace 20 game winners. now its jaime garcia and jake westbrook as your #2 and #3 starters. after that it gets real dicey. heck even the cubs are looking to have a better rotation now.

I get what you're saying. it's just that I don't think the Brewers will be that good, even with Grehnke added to the fold. 79 wins is the best I think they'll do, and that is if the team doesn't implode due to egos. If the Cards are finishing below the Brewers, they'll have to lose more than 83 games. What the loss of Wainwright does is gives the Astros and Pirates a chance to pile wins in April before they fall into the basement...

...That is if either team gets St. Louis on their schedule early.

Besides, the Cards will still do better than the Seattle Mariners, that team will be historically bad this year. So bad that Feilx Hernandez will get over half of their wins this year.
