Idea for a Rock Band Tourney

I'll be hosting a private RB3 Tourney at the end of the month. A lot of the tourney's I've been to have been based on scoring. I think this limits the performers to focus on combos and not "put on a show." I'm thinking on having the tournament based on style/stage performance and a panel of judges will decide on which band moves on to the next round. This is about as far as I've come up with for the event. I'll probably throw in some gift cards for best "instrument" player/singer.

If anyone has any other ideas on how to make this a successful event, any comments and ideas will be considered and any questions will be answered.

How will you select your judges? What criteria will the players be graded on?

Judges will be selected by music experience. Judges will then critique their performance "American Idol" style and then grade them on a scale of 1-5 "Star Search" style. Criteria is purely based on stage presence.
