Banned, because you can't ban for no reason.

I'm wondering what people's favourite video game/favourite video game in each genre is? Here's what I think.

For RPG's I'd go with TES: Skyrim.

For RTS I'd go with Rome: Total War, maybe Total War: Rome II once it comes out, though C&C is high up there.

    For FPS Halo 4.

For racing I'd probably go with Burnout Revenge.

For action-adventure either Assassins Creed 2, or AC: Brotherhood.

For 3PS I'd go with Gears of War 2 or 3.

Platformer would be Super Mario World.

For survival horror, probably one of the Dead Rising games. Maybe one of the Dead Space games.

I can't pick for music games, it'd probably be something like a mix of Rock Band 2, for the on disc setlist, multiplayer, world tour, with Guitar Hero 3's hitbox sizes, with Rock Band 3's DLC, pro modes/instruments, with Rocksmith's pro/real guitar chart layout, and ability to use any guitar with 1/4 inch output.

Overall I'd have to go with Halo 4.

    I never pick favorites.

you can pretty much say that anything with health regeneration is not in my top 5 in any genre though

What about in Halo: Reach, or Halo: CE with both regenerating, and health pack replenished health?

    Lets see...

RPG - um... I don't play many... does Pokemon count? I'll go with Pokemon... not sure which one.

RTS - I think the only RTS I've ever played was Halo Wars and it was meh.

FPS - Bioshock. Just a fantastic game.

    Racing - Mario Kart DS.

    Action Adventure - I... don't know...

3PS - I don't think I've played many of them. I guess Fallout 3. I've only played it for a few hours but I'm enjoying more than the other 3PS I can think of that I've played.

Platformer - Super Mario Brothers 3. No question.

Survival Horror - none. Does RE5 count? Other than that all I've played was RE1 and that game's controls are too frustrating to enjoy. Wait... does Luigi's Mansion count? If so then I pick that.

Music Game - Rock Band 3. No question. I'm not even sick of the on disc setlist yet.

Yeah, I got Halo Wars and I found it to be a poor RTS game. I think it could've been possibly better on PC. For RTS I really need the point and click functionality of a mouse to play well. Plus in the online multiplayer, people just spammed the strongest possible unit until your defenses broke down. I never played Super Mario bros. 2 or 3. I liked 1 a lot and I heard 3 was very good though. Also, Fallout would count as an RPG, but it also is a third person shooter, so it being in either category is fine. I never got around to playing a Fallout game, but I may pick a new one up, if it was released. RE5 definitely counts for survival horror. Rock Band 3 is a great game as well, obviously. I liked Mario Kart double dash if that's anything like the DS version. Also, I liked Bioshock a lot. I think the first was my favourite in most aspects. I didn't like the multiplayer for Bioshock 2 though. Also, wasn't there some DLC or something for Bioshock 2, that let you level up really fast. I thought it was very unfair they did that, if I remember correctly.

I loved Bioshock 2's multiplayer. Possibly the funnest FPS multiplayer I've ever played. I don't know about any such DLC though. After the first two months it became too difficult to find a game online so I just kinda traded it in.

RPG - Fallout 3, I cannot stress enough how much I absolutely adore that game. The environment and the story and the art, my god the pre 50's futuristic world brings me to tears in how immersive it is.

RTS - I used to play a game called Impossible Creatures where you had to combine animals to fight off enemies. My favorite was a chameleon and a polar bear that made a massive bear body with a long tongue and claws that could turn invisible. So many awesome things could be done with that game like flying whales Komodo dragon ants and so on.

FPS - Resistance. Insomniac is one of my all time favorite developers and their combining crazy guns like Ratchet and Clank with a deeply moving story about humanity fighting for survival made for chaotic yet wonderful gameplay.

Racing - Motorstorm Pacific Rift. It was close between this and Burnout Paradise but I love off road racing so much as opposed to street racing. Motorstorm had amazing environments set in Hawaii where you raced along active volcanoes or race down waterfalls, could punch people off their bikes or atvs, and mud and water effects that really changed gameplay as you blazed through them.

Action Adventure - I'm gonna say GTA 4 for this as it's one of my all time favorite games especially the DLC which made the city even more impressive with each release. Very close second is Red Dead Redemption which showed me a cowboy game could kick total ass.

3PS - MGS3. I had way too much fun in this game running around the jungle, poisoning enemies, setting traps, and causing chaos. MGS4 was amazing too, but just for all the great memories I had with MGS3 including the crazy bosses and secret stuff, MGS3 wins.

Platformer - Uncharted 3. So many amazing set pieces as you're falling out of airplanes, escaping sinking ships, among other things made this my go to platformer. Ratchet and Clank 2 being a close second.

Survival Horror - Dead Rising, great game, but it depresses the living hell out of you and I haven't been in the mood to play the second despite buying it a year or so ago.

Music Game - Rocksmith, words cannot describe the feeling I got when I first felt myself playing the guitar right and being able to lay it outside the game as well. Rock Band will always have a special place in my heart, but difficulty that adjusts to your playing makes Rocksmith king.

    *Adding*

Puzzle Game - Portal 2. Hilarious thought provoking and exceedingly well executed, Portal being awesome is no lie.

Multiplayer Game - Little Big Planet 2, this is hands down the game you can do anything and its not fair bogging it down to platformer when you can do anything. The community levels that people are always releasing are top notch with LBP2 levels being miles above LBP1 main levels and playing with friends is the best part. I've also been watching m wife play with my brother alot this week can't wait to play with her when I get better.
