I didn't realize there's gonna be a PC version until just now. Any speculation as to whether it would be less lag prone on PC due to better processing hardware? Since it's a single player game, having a huge screen isn't as necessary.

Lag is caused by audio and video processing, and is not a console hardware issues. Folks using monitors and direct plug in speakers aren't likely to have much lag. Folks using a TV setup will have the same issues console folks would have.

Ah - good info. I'd be using it on a monitor and speakers plugged directly into my computer so all video and audio processing would be taking place on the PC, but if it's not coming out at the same time as the console version, I'll probably just get the console version. I have a rear-projection TV connected via component cables anyway so my lag issues aren't bad at all even using dolby surround via my receiver/amplifier. Just thought it would be nice to have it on my computer in my office where I keep and play my real guitar (not in basement man cave with PS3/TV)

Just looked at Best Buy pre-order page. Looks like the console version is slated for the end of september while the PC version is slated for early december. I may wait and buy the PC version if it's only an extra couple months later.

Ex-Harmonix employee, Alex Navarro begrudgingly admitted on twitter that Rocksmith is no joke:

Also, here's me saying a thing I never expected to: Rocksmith looks pretty solid. It certainly ain't Power Gig all over again.

Him and multiple other gamejournos went to Ubi to play it this week so hopefully there will be some new info soon

    Best Buy Exclusives with Rocksmith

Here's a chance to access special in-game extras.

Reserve your copy of Rocksmith and receive three Best Buy exclusive in-game effects pedals:

    • The Powerchorder instant power chord harmony pedal allows players to easily execute complex shifting power chord riffs and 5th harmony leads simply by playing single notes.
    • The Trem-Olé! vintage surf/Rockabilly/Western movie tone effect pedal couples a fixed speed, selectable tremolo with a slap-back delay.
    • The Robo Crunch high-tech, low-fi synth simulator combines a bit reduction effect with a slow moving flanger.

Plus, you'll also get access to a unique in-game Gibson guitar. The S-1 guitar includes unique pickups that were designed so they could produce both humbucking and single-coil sounds.

Access code will arrive in the package with the game. While supplies last.
