I just love plant life. It fascinates me how they feed on sunlight, and make there own food...

Oh, wrong kind of plant. Seriously though, you're:

    A) Advertising to people wh you don't need to.
    B) Advertising on an opponent's website.

    Go away, please.

    P.S.: Flagged as advertising.

Really enjoying Rocksmith. The amp emulation is a thousand times better than what I thought it would be, and the trainer aspects ain't bad either. Couple questions and issues that I haven't seen brought up yet.

    1. Is there any way to go back and replay events? I double encored my first event and unlocked a song, but I did badly in the second event and only got one encore. Did I miss an unlockable song? If so, how can I go back and get it?

    2. The replays sound terrible and totally dissimilar from what I just played. Its not just me being unable to judge my own playing, I've had people watch me and then say that the replay didn't sound anything like the song I just played. Maybe they are trying to spare my feelings?

    3. Don't like the absence of overstrum penalties.

    4. The bend game seems screwy. If I wait till it says swing and then immediately strum, I'm almost always way too late. Seem to have a problem getting the timing down, and the game occasionally has problems registering a strum, but just on that game. Its not just my bending being inaccurate, it happens on non-bending notes as well.

    5. For all the tuning the games makes you do, its surprisingly generous about what it considers "in tune". There have been times where I've done the tuning in game, it says "in tune", I disagree and make adjustments on several strings, and I'm still in tune according to the game. Weird.

    6. Anybody know how to unlock scale runner and super ducks? I've unlocked most of the games through technique challenges or songs, but there's no obvious technique that screams "scale game unlocker!"

Interesting... Ok, I'll also try that too. Note: My lag I notice is from the point I touch the string to the point I hear a sound out of the system, the interface detects my strums ok in-game, so it doesn't affect the actual gameplay otherwise (i.e. I'm not worried about the chart coming earlier/later). It's similar to when I play freestyle mode on drums in rock band. There's a perceivable lag, and although it's not huge it is a bit odd to try and keep a beat to it

I made that observation back here:
I think that the PC version is very important for them; there are probably lots of beginnng and intermediate guitarists who'd be interested in this but who don't play video games or own a console.
I think that it will probably sell more copies for PCs than for consoles, the number of people intererested in learning guitar (or who already play) who own PCs undoubtably being larger than the number of such people who who either already own an Xbox or PS3 or would be willing to buy one just for this title. Their partnership with Guitar Center (whose logo is on the DLC store button) is brilliant--I expect that they'll be carrying this in their stores, displayed prominently. The partnership with Gibson/Epiphone wasn't a bad idea either.

I keep seeing people mention that they're using a receiver between their console and televisions, so I have to ask: what is a receiver? I know this is probably a stupid question. Right now I have my set up like this:

PS3-->HDMI (video)/Component Cables (audio)-->TV, and I get some slightly noticeable lag during amp mode and the loading sections where you can play around. To give you an idea of the lag: let's say I'm playing a steady stream of eighth notes (for those of you who are unfamiliar with notes, the beat would essentially be counted as 1&2&3&4&). I'll hear each note from the TV one note late, so when I strum "1" on my guitar, I won't hear it from the TV until after I've strummed the first "&", essentially making it like a constant delay pedal. If I can cut down on this, it would be great.
It is not closed-minded to dislike something. It is, however, closed-minded to degrade something simply because you dislike it.

In "layman's terms": The stereo unit.

A receiver is a surround sound amplifier. With mine I plug the hdmi into the tv direct and the optical out into the receiver. The receiver handles the sound and the tv handles the picture.
Posted with my iPad. Hence the bad spelling/grammar.

They used to be called "stereos" or "stereo receivers," or just "radios." If you have a box responsible for "receiving" audio from various sources, radio stations, CD players, even things like tape decks and turn tables, and then pumping that audio to a set of external speakers, that box is your receiver. They typically look something like this.

Most modern receivers can route video as well as audio, and practically all of them do surround sound, which is why receivers usually aren't called "stereos" any more.

Right now I have my set up like this:

PS3-->HDMI (video)/Component Cables (audio)-->TV, and I get some slightly noticeable lag during amp mode and the loading sections where you can play around. The simplest way to add a receiver to your system would be to put it between the console and the TV. The PS3 would be connected to the receiver, which would then handle the audio while feeding the video to your TV. This is how my system is configured, with HDMI connections between everything. I used to have the XBox going to the TV first, and I discovered having it go to the receiver first cut down on the audio lag considerably. Your mileage may vary, however; in the digital age, lag can come from just about anywhere.

A receiver may not be necessary in your case, though. Check and see if your TV has a "game mode" or something similar. A lot of modern HDTVs do extra processing on the signal. This can make the TV look and sound nicer, but it can also contribute significantly to the lag. A "game mode" usually disables most or all processing, cutting out the extra lag. It may also degrade the quality of the picture somewhat, but the difference is usually slight and not worth worrying about for a video game anyway.

It's all right. Everything will work out fine.

I'm not sure where the manual for my TV is, but I played around in the set up menu and I don't see any options for a game mode. I did see an option to set HDMI audio to "Auto", "Digital", or "Analog", but I'm not sure that would do anything. Can you tell I don't know jack crap about TVs?
