I'm really hoping it's the various arrangements that are actually in the recording. Otherwise it's just random. If it's just random I'd hope they wouldn't have big sections of emptiness as in arrangments like riccochet single note.
In terms of how it's affected my RB3 play... I'm playing RB3 less as I level the songs. I did boot up and play dani/bhs, and still will continue to use RB3 for drums, but right now I have way more fun playing my guitar than I do the squier, so it will likely affect the amount of RB3 DLC I buy.
Man I hope RB eventually has the ability to plug my guitar in directly like this, I like so many things about RB that RS just seems to get wrong, but playing your own guitar and being able to bend etc... is just soo much fun.
For anyone interested in seeing a nearly fully leveled version of Star Spangled Banner, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN76Mqsbuq8
There's still 4 or 5 level ups left on the tapping section before it maxes out, but its pretty much out of my reach to hit it precisely enough in the leveler to get it leveled up anymore.
Ok so I have been playing both mixes of more than a feeling in RS and there are some interesting comparisons.
I have not levelled it up totally but it seems that neither version has the arpeggio part, which is a bit disappointing
Both versions play the chorus as 2 string power chords whereas RB charts them as full on barre chords, is RS dumbing down songs to make them easier for beginners?
Having said that I am loving playing combo 2 which has the lead parts including harmonics in it!

Hey, guys! Long time, no talk. Been busy.
You guys still enjoying Rocksmith? Did you grab any of the DLC that was just released?
PS3 players are out of luck for "Smoke on the Water" until about mid-December, I heard.

It's a matter of playing style and sometimes depends on the transcription. Transcribers will look at several different sources to find the best transcription that will make it sound MOST like the well-known recording—live recordings, music books (who often don't have direct sources from the artist and are similar transcribers themselves), and playing just by ear.
So, I would say it definitely has to do with the transcribers and their methods.

Don't get me wrong i am not complaining, just observing. I can play the power chords easier than the barre chords and it sounds fine. I suspect, if I wanted to I could play it the way rb charts it, using the barre chords and RS will hive me credit because it sounds right.
I am more annoyed that they have not charted the acoustic arpeggio though

I've now unlocked all the pedals. I agree with elx that the Ricochet single note pedal is the hardest one to unlock. If you get that one the others shouldn't be much of a problem.
