What is a good TV that doesn't lag?

I have a Vizio E421VA TV it's supposed to be 120Hz so I thought it would be fast and it is fine to watch TV on but the screen blurs and lags out when playing Rockband. I know for a fact it is not the Xbox doing it. People say plasmas are terrible because the HUD burns in to the screen even in the new ones so am I supposed to get a 240Hz TV? Are LEDs less laggy than LCDs or are they just prettier? Did I just get 1 random unlucky bad TV? Thanks for any help and if anyone could point out a $600-700 TV that is good for Rockband I'd appreciate it.

I don't think it has much to do with the TV, but just the hardware/software limitations with the xbox 360 and Rock Band in general.

I've played on other TVs before that didn't suck but I moved and got a new one and it is being shaky and terrible. Don't tell me it's just the way the game is. =/

My experience playing on a rear projection (Panasonic 53"), and LED (Mitsubishi), and two Plasma TVs (Samsung and Panasonic) is that they all have worked fine for me (on a PS3). So my guess is it's either a bad unit, or a lesser brand (I don't know much about Vizio, except that they tend to be on the cheaper side).

Does your TV have any game settings? Often TV's will have various filters and enhancement tools running that can create lag that’s only noticeable in video games. Many sets allow you to turn these features off for video games by featuring a “video game” mode. Or you can manually shut them off each time under your settings.

Also, since you wanted known working brands, My Sony Bravia hasn't had any issues.

You've gotta be KIDDING me. I had to turn on "game mode" in the TV menu for the Xbox to go from sucking terribly to being perfect. That is ridiculous and shouldn't be necessary but holy sh*t thank you so much!

It sounds like you may have gotten a bad vizio tv. It happened to me. I had to take my first vizio back because one of the audio rca's wasn't working right out of the box. If you can take it back, I would try that. Vizio is like the new Sanyo. Nice TV's with a decent piture for a good price, but your only fooling yourself if you think your going to get more than 5 years out of it. How do you have it hooked up? HDMI or Component cable?

I don’t know if the issue is as much the brand but the store employees. For example, during black Friday, my local Walmart had a lot of extra TV’s for the sale and since they were short on room, they just set them outside. It had just rained and was very cold out, I’m not sure what they were thinking but I’d bet there were a lot of returns due to TV’s shorting out.
