Why is 5* so hard to get on Pro instruments?

    Seriously.

I've never 5* Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting on legacy Keys... I came so close yesterday though, and I missed a ton of notes.

However, on Easy Pro Guitar (shush I'm a noob :3) sometimes it's like... miss 2 notes and get 4 stars. Or or some Expert Pro Keys songs... miss 3 notes and get 4 stars.

The scoring seems out of whack here, and it's frustrating. Musicians make mistakes all the time in concerts - they're human. You don't hold it against them. Why should the game penalise me for missing hardly any notes?

It must be you.... I can Gold Star songs on Pro Drums with only 98%.... Maybe it has something to do with your (lack of) use of overdrive ?

You should aim for perfection, not for "yeah, I guess it's good enough".
There are less notes on lower difficulties, if you keep breaking the streak how do you expect to get good score?
    Baffling, huh?

I play on Expert Pro Keys. I have one of the highest scores for Sister Christian .__. yet missing about 4 chords loses me an ENTIRE star? I could miss out half the song on legacy and still probably get 4 stars.

I play with one hand, so yes, I do use overdrive.

You get good percentages, but in Rock Band all that matters is the streak. Until you can do the song "perfectly", you won't get any 5 star , especially on Pro Keys where there aren't so many notes during the song. Had to do three times "Waiting for the End" to 5 star it, and the first two tries I scored 99%.. I think it's the same scoring system of legacy instruments, the only thing that changes is that you don't make so many errors on legacy.

Pro instruments = more points per note.

More points per note = harder to get stars(see; legacy bass cutoffs)

More points per note = bigger score hit when you break streak

I figured you'd enjoy an actual answer.

Because it's supposed to be hard. Next question.

The same reason it is supposed to be harder to 5* a song on expert compared to easy/medium/hard.

Pro mode is exponentially more difficult.

To be honest, I haven't noticed such a problem.

I mean, I have a harder time 5-starring songs on pro guitar, because I suck, but I've been able to 5-star almost every song in the game on pro keys (read: every song except Roundabout) without being anywhere near perfect (except obviously on songs with very few notes, where it's easy to be perfect anyway).

I think you're probably just under-estimating the number times you're breaking streak. I often go through songs that I've already played and am appalled by the number of notes I missed, when I was quite pleased with my performance last time, and it ends up being a high score by like 50,000 points anyway. So basically, it's easy to think that you have to do really well to 5-star a song when you haven't done it yet.

And it's also easy to think that you've reached the same skill level on pro keys as you have on the legacy instruments when your rock meter doesn't drop as fast for missed notes, when actually, it's not even close (this is why I enjoy pro bass and pro drums - there's no forgiveness for missed notes, so you know exactly where you stand compared to legacy instruments).

It's also possible that your overdrive use isn't optimal, or you're breaking streak during overdrive.

    Yay :3 Thank you.

It's rather frustrating, though. I missed about 5 notes on the Riverboat Gamblers Song and got 4 stars.
