Yep, the only accurate way to EV train is to start from level 1 (or whenever you catch a pokemon, although not recommended).

And Ferrothorn is uber elite because it's a good tank. He's able to lay out Stealth Rock and Spikes/Leech Seed, while also having decent attack moves in Gyro Ball and Power Whip. Not to mention it also has Iron Barbs, so if you equip a Rocky Helmet, a lot of damage is done if the opposing pokemon uses a physical attack.

The only downside is that many pokemon I encounter have Flamethrower, and it just screws everything up.
Power Gig is better than your rhythm game

Yeah, any fire attacks pretty much destroy him. But he does seem pretty awesome. If I recall, mine has Leech Seed, Gyro Ball, Power Whip, and one more I can't remember. He also has a couple stats over 100, and he's only lv 40.

EV training isn't really necessary from 1, exactly. I mean, even with a bred pokemon, with a few high level Audino battles with an XP share on, they get into their 30s without any EVs put on.

Besides, they don't have any EVs on them when you catch them, do they? So, if you catch something in its 40-60s, it's a whole lot easier than going from 1 or whatever.

That's actually wrong. EXP Share doubles and splits the EVs among the two Pokemon. Your Pokemon under EV training would get HP values.

That is wrong. It doesn't split EVs at all. If two Pokemon face off against an Audino(2 HP EVs), both will receive 2 HP EVs.

It's STILL wrong. If three Pokemon participate, EXP Share doesn't double it into 4 and split that among two Pokemon. It's completely wrong with any amount of Pokemon that isn't two, and it's semantics within two, because it just doesn't work that way. It's like saying I grew a foot, but lost eleven inches. No. I just gained one inch. Same result? Yes. Anywhere close to the correct process? No.

EXP is split between Pokemon, yes, but EVs are not. In any way. If something gets experience, it gets however many EVs that Pokemon distributes, with exceptions of 510'd Pokemon and level 100 Pokemon, who don't get EVs, and get EVs without EXP, respectively.

Oh look, you're trying to make yourself seem correct as usual. We're talking about 1 EXP share, not 2, not 3. Stop playing games because I'm sick of it.

Rain dance can really help your Ferrothorn out in a double battle because it (it's obvious for some players) halves the damage dealt by fire-type moves. I usually combo Ferrothorn with Seismitoad or Politoed.

Single battles are a totally different story..
