I get that you haven't played them, but there was zero change to gameplay in HGSS, mostly because they're remakes of games we already have, and the only graphical improvements were from said Game Boy versions they already released. The only thing they did was bring Johto to the DSLite and have a pretty nice UI on the bottom screen.

I said there were many changes between GEN2 and GEN4. Of course there weren't any (major) gameplay changes from Diamond and HeartGold.
