Hey guys! Having a good Friday? Well, let’s see if we can make it even better! We’ve got a HUGE update post to make here, and I recommend reading the whole thing if you like new awesome RBN songs.

We’ve been mostly on radio silence since RBN2 launched, but I think we’ve got enough stuff put together to make a few announcements.

I was a guest on the latest Rhythm Authors podcast! Check it out here! We talk about how Chart Toppers Authoring got started, the latest Thursday RBN release schedule, and some amazing RBN songs from us and Rhythm Authors!

KURODUST’s “Doll in the Dust,” which we announced earlier, is making its way through Peer Review and I expect it to be through in time for next week’s store update! It’ll be our first song with harmonies, and it’s totally awesome, so you should check it out! Here’s the preview video if you missed it the first time around.

Remember JACOB CHANEY’s “Cluster #2 (RB2 Version)”? It was the last RBN1 song we released. Most of you figured out that the (RB2 Version) tag meant an RB3 one was coming, and we’re proud to finally release a video of it! Now going under the artist name ASKARI NARI, here is the new, keys-updated version of “Cluster #2!”

That isn’t all from ASKARI NARI, though. We’re also doing one other track off of the debut album. This track, “Mercury Blooming,” is mellower than Cluster, but features some awesome keys, some pretty interesting drum work, and a bass solo! That’s right, our first song with a BASS SOLO! Check out the action here!

Next up, we’ve announced this before, but not in any widespread form, so for those of you who didn’t know, we are bringing a new RAINBOWDRAGONEYES track from his latest EP, “The Primordial Booze.” The new track is called “Heavy Weather – The Storm ov The Undead,” and it will BLOW YOUR MIND. The level of difficulty on this thing is so great, we’re having it go for a round of testing before we even make the preview video just to be sure that what you see is indeed what you get! You won’t have to wait long though, since the song is already in playtesting! Prepare yourself, especially you drummers, because this song will also feature a 2x Bass Pedal version!

Another returning artist is BROKEN EQUILIBRIUM. Unfortunately, the singer and bassist are no longer with the band, and the band appears to be on hiatus, but before doing so we have licensed FOUR more tracks off their debut self-titled album. The tracks are “Culling the Weak,” “Devour,” “Etchings,” and “Separation!” They’re all really fun tracks in their own way, and will all feature harmonies! In addition, “Culling the Weak” and “Devour” will also have 2x Bass Pedal versions, and “Etchings” will feature a BASS SOLO, our second one ever! You guys have been wanting bass solos, and neither “Etchings” nor “Mercury Blooming” will disappoint! Look for preview videos for all four songs coming soon.

Another returning artist is, of course, SHYLO ELLIOTT, who still has to finish putting his entire debut album on RBN. We’re working on two additional tracks, “Cool Concoction” and “Dark Escape.” The first track, “Cool Concoction,” is a jazzy, bubbly type of tune that features two “guitar” solos, an INTENSE drum solo, an amazing synth solo, and a SYNTH/GUITAR DUEL! This is a literal duel; both parts trade off the same riffs, so whoever gets the highest percentage wins! Overall, it’s a really fun track. “Dark Escape” goes more towards the progressive side, with a constantly-moving and very fun bassline, a couple awesome-sounding guitar solos, a unique drum part, and TWO synth solos that will test how well you play notes while holding others. Overall, it might be the most refined song Shylo has ever made. Videos for those are coming soon, and they will be hitting Peer Review soon as well!

To close this off, we’re gonna make a new artist announcement that’s a little bit out of the ordinary. From Murfreesboro TN, courtesy of netlabel Black Flower Music, we’re going to bring post-no-wave outfit SNMT to the Rock Band Network! SNMT challenges traditional musical conventions, and the results are probably the strangest Rock Band tracks that will ever hit the Network. Seriously. I DARE anyone to find anything more out of the ordinary than this. Whether or not you like the sound, you’ll definitely enjoy the charts. We will bring three initial tracks from SNMT, “PON DE FIOR” off of the “An Lucky” album, and both songs on the “!!!!zzz/SEX EP,” which are, as you might guess, “!!!!zzz” and “SEX.” This EP was made for Rock Band in a specific manner; “!!!!zzz” is a 10-minute long song with some pretty funny vocals, and “SEX” is a 34-second song with some very unique harmony parts. That’s right, this EP will add what we believe to be the longest AND the shortest RBN songs ever! Check out a preview for “PON DE FIOR” here, and read more about SNMT here!

That’s all for this update, but that’s not all for us! We’ve got a TON of amazing new songs and artists on the way, including our first metal signing, some piano-based tracks you’ll love to play and hear, and our first full-on partnership with a record label! Stay informed by following our Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels, and by keeping an eye on our official website! Also follow this thread; as you can see, all the above information has been compiled up at the top, and now that keys and harmonies are here, we’ve updated our tiering model. If you’re just now finding out about us, check out our awesome catalog, we’re sure you’ll find something you like.

    Have an amazing weekend!

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more theremin.

    SNMT sounds hypnotic....can't wait.
Waiting for Depeche Mode, Patti Smith, Pavement, Public Enemy & more Rolling Stones. I have 2,000+ songs!

Loving the overall reactions to SNMT. It's a good balance of "WTF" and "awesome." Which pretty much describes the songs and charts.

Quick update to the OP: "Doll in the Dust" has passed Peer Review, and should be available in the store when it updates Thursday! It's our first RBN2 track and our first with harmonies!

Man that SNMT sounds like a bunch of raucous. What kind of sick person would make that sort of stuff?

Hey guys, how is everyone doing today? I hope you’ve all been enjoying our latest release, “Mercury Blooming” by Askari Nari. If you haven’t picked it up yet, what are you waiting for? It has the 3rd ever bass solo in the Rock Band platform, and was picked as an RBN Highlight! Buy it now for only 80 MSP!

Now you guys probably want to hear about new songs and artists right? Of course you do…you didn’t come into this thread to hear about this one time I saw a bird eat a cicada! (Which totally happened.) Let’s see, what do I do first…oh yeah, how about some preview videos! We got two videos of previously announced and totally awesome Shylo Elliott songs right here!

    Shylo Elliott – “Cool Concoction”
    Shylo Elliott – “Dark Escape”

Something messed up with the video of the new Rainbowdragoneyes track, so expect that to be up sometime next week. All three of these songs are making their way through Peer Review right now!

Now for the new stuff. We’re proud to announce that we’re going to bring the LeetStreet Boys to Rock Band! You may know them if you frequent anime conventions, as they are one of the most requested bands at those places! They sing about a lot of stuff gamers and otaku would love, including Rock Band itself! That’s right, we’re bringing you “Expert Mode” off of their Otaku Hearts album! Dawg, I herd you like Rock Band, so we’re putting Rock Band in your Rock Band so you can Rock Band while you Rock Band! (Did I mention the song is about Rock Band yet?) This track has two blistering guitar solos and unrelenting keyboard, as well as epic 3-part harmonies! Check out a preview video here, and look for it coming soon, as it’s headed to Peer Review!

The other announcement we’ll make today is that the Greek progressive metal band Winter Crescent is coming to Rock Band! Winter Crescent, hailing from Heraklion, Crete, will be bringing 6 out of 7 songs from their 2009 “Battle of Egos” demo CD, rewarded “Pick of the Month” by the Greek Metal Hammer in September 2009. They are our first non-electronic metal signing, and they will rock you. Hard. For you hardcore drummers out there, each song will also have a 2x Bass Pedal version! Check out a preview here of the first song, “Battle of Egos Part I,” which will be hitting playtesting soon!

That’s all for now, but we expect to have a few more exciting announcements sometime next week, including some new chiptune stuff! Seriously. If you somehow still aren’t excited about all this stuff, maybe the next things we announce will get you pumped. Stay in the know by subscribing to our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts, and thanks for all your support so far as we continue to bring Rock Band more amazing music.
