So it looks like “Battle of Egos Part II (2x Bass Pedal)” by Winter Crescent is our last 2012 release. With this, let us reflect on the year 2012 for Chart Toppers. Buckle up, here’s a wall of text.
We started off this year pretty similar to how we started off over two years ago, with Broken Equilibrium and their first RBN2 track “Culling the Weak,” which had amazing drums and harmonies. We’ve brought back Winter Crescent as well with “Battle of Egos Intro” and “Battle of Egos Part II” to close off the year, as well as the infamous 30-second SNMT song “SEX” which I don’t really need to say much about. Also making their return were Rainbowdragoneyes with one of the most sought-after RB3 versions, Nod 206 with their second song, Daryle Stephen Ackerman with two more piano-heavy songs, Active Knowledge for more chiptune diversity, and Shylo Elliott with the last song of his “Proof of Concept” album, finally complete after two long years. (Oh yeah, we have a full album on RBN now. Sweet!)
So who was new in 2012? We introduced the young Californian punk rockers SIMPL3JACK to the platform, brought our most heavily-censored song ever from Spassm, delved into rap with two Bikey tracks, helped Venezuelan rockers Sifting make their debut, were honored to bring “Crabplosion” from Dragon Ball Z Abridged to the game for charity, got “Dudes and Guys and Things and Stuff” stuck in your head from Straight Outta Junior High (who played their last show a couple weeks ago), brought YouTube sensation and master lyricist brentalfloss to the platform, got y’all some nice blues rock with John Daly Project, gave you a sweet acoustic love song from Haitian group Zing Experience (which will get you a lot of points on Blitz with the right combo, hint hint) and of course we brought Rock Band the first of many brony songs courtesy of Eurobeat Brony and The Living Tombstone.
Wow. Seeing that all written out like that makes it look like we had a really awesome year. And we did.
So what’s up for us in 2013? Well, assuming the world doesn’t hit the off button tomorrow like some people long ago may or may not have said it would, we’re bringing…basically everything we’ve announced so far that we didn’t get to release this year. Some highlights include the Superfluous Motor album (with a song featuring yours truly), Christina Marie Magenta’s return to RBN, some super-difficult guitar songs courtesy of Benjamin Lechuga and Jim Morris, some more intensity with RDE’s Thrashbaath and the remaining Winter Crescent tracks, a few tracks from everyone’s favorite Yogurt With Sprinkles, and of course the other brony songs we’ve announced, amongst many other things. And that’s only the stuff I’ve made public…some of the things we’ll be working on in secret in 2013 are so awesome that I’m fighting to not reveal them right now! I’m sure you’ll be excited for some of these groovy bands that I’m elaborately teasing for you before they finally find their way to your Xbox. (Fellow CTA members, feel free to groan and facepalm if you see what I did there. I couldn’t resist.)
As always, we thank you for supporting us these past two years, and for continuing to support us as we welcome the new year with open arms. If the world truly did end tomorrow, I’d almost be totally content with that knowing we pulled all this off. But, it won’t, and neither will Chart Toppers Authoring. Onwards to the new year, and to tons of more amazing music for this game we all love so much!
