I'm just gonna point you to a thread on another forum. There's an effortposter there by the name Headless Horse, and if you skim his posts in the thread you'll get a good idea that it's not as black and white as you may think.
Also, if all ponies were as true to the basest description of their Element as possible at all times, Pinkie's Adventures in Babysitting would have ended a lot worse. Also, Rarity would never be Rarity.

Italian MLP opening. I was skeptical at first, because it was all just clips from the show and a few from the recent episodes, but at the 1:00 mark, it shows Applebloom in some sort of roller derby.
Either way, it's a pretty epic song.
AsianSteev: if you can read this, put more Ska songs on the RBN! Please?

I found something pretty cool. Max Gilardi, creator of Apple.mov and Dress.mov, did a small write up trying to explain why adult men enjoy the show. I know he's not an official spokesman for the unintended demographic, but his explanation seems solid for something somewhat difficult to express. More importantly, he emphasizes on the "How?" which kind of acts as a substitution for the "Why?"
I thought maybe this could put in the OP since any non-regular of this thread who comes here pretty much asks the same question, so a link to a detailed answer of a frequently asked question would be convenient. But, it's your thread GNF, so it's your call. Here's the post:

It doesn't matter if you love Harmonix or capital H.M.X.
Yeah, emo sore-loser Applejack seemed a lot weaker than the Applejack we usually know and love.
If these walls could talk, the stories they'd tell,
and if they did, there'd be a whole lot of hell.
So the new episode was good, but it had too much singing. And no one learned anything new. That like never happens.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, because if not, then the irony is delicious.
And you should watch more musicals.

Much better episode than the week before. Granny Smith seemed a little too eager to bet the farm (literally), but otherwise, good stuff.
Funny how the mob that was so quick to bash the Apple farm early on so willingly came to their rescue later, but hey, real-life mobs are funny like that too.
It's all right. Everything will work out fine.
It's all right. We're going to the end of the line!
