Yeah, I guess they included it in the season 1 deal and just had to wait for the show to finish.

I'd still say that characterizing the writing of My Little Pony as "good" is very, very arguable. It has had its moments so far, to be sure, but it's so incredibly hamfisted in everything that it does that it makes itself difficult to enjoy.

Great animation, though, but that hasn't been nearly enough to save it yet.

Coincidentally, I've only watched the first five episodes so far. Maybe I'll eat my words? I'll certainly be surprised if I do. Of course, I believe I may be damning myself here, for not attempting to see it as a decent show, but as the great show it is often touted to be.

I think fans often inflate the quality of writing because of the stigma that the MLP series has had throughout the generations. (As a "kids" show or as "girly")

I'll definitely agree it's not the best television writing, but it is certainly better than some television shows, especially some comedy, and certainly better than most children's entertainment.

This was one of Lauren Faust's reasons for creating it.

As for me personally, I rather enjoy the program as a guilty pleasure. (Who doesn't like brightly colored things bouncing around the screen?) And if you're into spinoffs and meticulously devoted fan-created material (of virtually all mediums) like I am, that's even better.

For some people it just won't "click," and that's fine. Even if we were talking about an adult television program, not everyone would be expected to be a fan. It all comes down to eliminating labels. Disregard the fact that this is "children's" or "family" programming and just see it as a television show. Some will be prone to liking it and some won't.

    Ah

Pretty much what bohemian said. The writing is far better than most would expect, but it's not necessarily the cornucopia of television writing. As an admittedly shameless plug, I made this a great while ago and some might get a kick out of it. I made a forum-based text adventure based on MLP, and the cRPG Planescape: Torment. It comes with music/imagery/etc. BSN also happens to have an MLP Thread as well.

    I should go.

Discord is one of my favourite DLC songs of the year, insanely cheap too, I highly recommend it. Can you imagine how good actual songs from the show might be (Love Is In Bloom in particular)? Shame the dreaded demigod of lisencing has probably silently killed any chance of that. I do however vote for more songs like Discord, does Alex S have anything not based on a song from the show?
    Why are you looking here?

    Metalbrony reporting in.
Can't wait for Discord to come out on PS3 if our lord and master Harmonix allows it.
