While there may be another interview and quote you are referring to, the one from the Desctructoid interview I found was:
Certainly, Rock Band 3 was a strong offering when you guys released it last year. So there's still a lot there. Does this mean we're not going to see another Rock Band this year, [and that] you're just going to focus on supporting the Rock Band 3 product?
In the short term this year, I think we're going to be focusing on cultivating Rock Band 3, which means reaching out to new audiences, [and] bringing some really compelling new content onto the platform. Running with the Rock Band Pro functionality, which can really start to be fully realized now that the Squier is coming to market. There's a lot of development to be done over the course of this year, with new content for Rock Band 3.
So that's what we're focusing on in terms of what's in the marketplace this year. And then beyond this year, as I touched on, there's some far more fundamental reimaginings of the Rock Band franchise that we're thinking about right now.
While that most likely means no new game this year, it is far from a definitive statement. I'm sure an exact answer was purposely avoided.
Got a link to that? The two interviews I read didn't say anything about "no Rock Band 4 in 2011 nor even any band games." The closest thing I could get was Dtoid's quote, "In the short term this year, I think we're going to be focusing on cultivating Rock Band 3, which means reaching out to new audiences, [and] bringing some really compelling new content onto the platform" -- which does not, in fact, say "no Rock Band 4; no [THIS BAND]: Rock Band in 2011".
So link and quote, please.

Wow, forgot about tribute...never replaced it on vinyl, heh.
PS Do you happen to know if the version of Crazy Train on RB3 is the original version with Kerslake and Daisley, or the redubs that Sharon Osbourne commissioned with Robert Trujillo (Metallica!) and Mike Bordin (Faith No More!).
PPS Am I really the first person that will point out that this interview again said no RB4 PLANNED... I also want to remind everyone that that's the one thing every game developer is allowed to lie about. Think Twisted Metal, for one.
Waiting for Depeche Mode, Patti Smith, Pavement, Public Enemy & more Rolling Stones. I have 2,000+ songs!
He doesn't outright say there's no Rock Band 4, but he says they're focusing on dlc in terms of the marketplace this year.In the short term this year, I think we're going to be focusing on cultivating Rock Band 3, which means reaching out to new audiences, [and] bringing some really compelling new content onto the platform. Ugh. No clue how so many want Telephone so bad. By far Gaga's worst song. Reminds me too much of something "pop artist a" would do in collaboration with "pop artist c". Way too bleh.
This leads me believe that Telephone just might be in the pack :/
8/9/11 (Def Leppard) will be marked as the best day in RB history for me. HMX, major thanks for all this amazing DLC you put out!
A-Rig doesn't say "No Rock Band 4"--C-Rig DOES, however, in this interview. That's not what this is about though. Quoting peterock:
Peterock thinks something A-Rig said explicitly states that there will be no disc-based games whatsoever, and provides a vague origin, of which I've found two possible sources, neither of which actually deny the possibility of a disc-based game in 2011. "We're focusing on DLC in 2011" is NOT the same as "no disc-based game in 2011" by any stretch of the imagination.

"Telephone" is the greatest K-Pop song not actually from Korea EVER. Plus, the recipe for the sandwich she makes includes Tiberium, so that's awesome.
