Official Super Smash Bros. Discussion Thread

Well, after Super Smash Bros. 4 was (finally) announced at E3 today, I figured I'd go ahead and get the jump on this thread. I will be updating this as new information on SSB4 comes out.

So what kind of features are you guys hoping to appear on SSB4?

Super Smash Bros. 4 revealed at Nintendo's conference. SSB4 will release for 3DS and the newly announced WiiU, with some sort of interaction between the two versions.

Developer Masahiro Sakurai wants it the 3DS version to be more of an "individual" and "customizable" experience where, hypothetically, the player could take a customized player and upload it to the Wii U version.

Sakurai commented on the possibility of including Capcom characters in this game, saying that "I can't say that it's entirely out of the realm of possibility that some Capcom character could appear in the next Smash Bros. The big problem, though, comes from the idea of trying to get characters from a completely different universe to fit with the style that has been dictated by Nintendo's characters in a fighting game."

Wow... since this will be a couple of years in the making.... they said the developer had to finish a launch title before starting on it and it was future tech with the 3DS interacting with the game... I can't even think of what it could be like.

I want Viewtiful Joe. As sweet as it would be, I don't think he'll make his SSB debut ever.

EDIT: And yeah, DLC characters/stages would be frickin' sweet.

Subliminal messaging that removes the player's desires to hack the game with SD cards to "make it more balanced".

(Trust me - I get the allure! I play as Link, FFS. Having recovery time whittled down to where I can actually string together an Up+B and a hookshot-to-the-edge-of-the-level to save myself was awesome. But it's not the game that comes in the box, and I have no excuse if I can't play without those crutches on other people's consoles. Especially not, "You didn't FIX it with the Balanced/Minus/Tourneyfagapalooza/WHATEVER patch from the internet.")

Seriously, though? I'm curious about roster. Most of Nintendo's big hits since the last Brawl have been installments in their existing Brawl-contributing franchises. Sure, you could try to fit in more characters introduced in the sequels (Midna, Prince Fluff, some of the more popular new Pokémon), but I think in addition to retaining Sonic and Snake, they need to open up the flood gates on the third party games. (Travis Touchdown was the first one to jump into my mind.)

I also wouldn't say no to an online multiplayer that has modes other than "Flipbook".
