Let me try ONCE AGAIN to explain this in a way you will understand.

RBNStuff is my experimental playground for methods not yet perfected by myself. I know it's not simple. If it was simple, it wouldn't be experimental.

    Do you understand that?

Now, once again, I will say that RBNStuff is not an accurate representation of my other site because my other sites are NOT experimental playgrounds. When I have customers involved, I only use methods I am comfortable with.

Are you comprehending this? Do I need to take a break to let this soak in? Do you understand?
Yes, I understand, and I'll say this: That's complete rubbish. Experimenting with what? Basic HTML? Nothing on your site is beyond the basic knowledge of webdesign - and most of that is missing. I'm not trolling you, but what you are saying is ridiculous.

I will explain simply, like this, comparing a simple part of your site with the way it should be done. Now, I'm not saying that my way is the only way, or that you couldn't do something more simple, but your way is wrong. It doesn't represent the data you are trying to convey. Not properly. How does a computer see your code? It sees a table, so it presumes you are working with tabulated data, it sees bullet points that mean nothing to it. It doesn't convey the data well in any way except visually, and even then it does it in a half-hearted way.

Using tables for layout, using depreciated tags and code that is mangled and wrong - that's not experimenting, that's a lack of knowledge and use of outdated methods.

Please don't try and defend the site. I know I sound like I'm being a horrible person - I'm insulting your work, and I'm sorry - but the reality is it is flat-out-bad and you should work on improving it.

Either take DLCQuickplay's way, or just do one overall up-vote/down-vote. Done. It's really not as difficult as you're making it.

If you do it DLCQuickplay's way, then it'll be redundant again, and I find the site redundant enough with rbnreleases out there already

Do it with the like up/like down system

I'm sorry, is that okay? You sure? Ha, alright. Okay. Sorry though

When/if it happens, I'll probably use an up/like down system because I feel like rating with 5 stars or whatever just kinda goes 'meh', but if you have a up/down vote type thing, we'll be like "whoa! this song has 35 likes! That's so much"

But in reality, there is no easy way for me to do that right now (see bottom-ish of post).

I decided to make RBNStuff a databased-based (lolwut?) site, allowing for WAY more accessibility. For example, when the library gets big enough (and I mean our library, as we update things), one will be able to view all, view by date released, view by alphabetical order, and so on and so forth. Basically, it makes things a lot easier for everyone.

I will also be adding a description area where one can view little notes (like on the previous notable releases) for songs that could use them (in response to you guys wanting "reasons")

But, like I said, I wouldn't be expecting a user-based rating system anytime too soon (though I will be working on it, and it is totally possible). The only annoying thing is that it would require everyone to have an account and that would be one of the only benefits to having an account. So what a lot of work for nothing, you know?

Anyways, as usual, if you guys find songs you like, I do read every post on these threads and I will take them into account (Several praises for "Mouth Without a Face" has made it a featured song, so that's cool).
    meh

Force folks to log in. It's simpler, more secure in preventing double voting, and it's that big of a deal for most folks. My suggestion is make it a 1-6 rating, 6 being gold stars, 5 being 5 stars, etc. Or 1-5 for 1-5 lighters.

On the web development side, I see a lot of what was pointed out earlier as potential issues, but I can see you're also playing around with a fan site, not trying to get folks to pay you. Take the criticism to heart on learning what things to correct, and correct them. While it sounded harsh, most of his criticism is based off of being compliant with newer HTML standards, which is a good thing to aim for.

As for a wishlist, since you're already creating a public rating system, why not also attach a "Request for the PS3" option? That way, PS3ers can use your site to help organize the songs they want on the PS3 from RBN.

You could implement a twitter- or facebook- based login system so that you wouldn't have to force dedicated RBNstuff accounts. I'm sure the API's for that stuff are pretty easily available nowadays

Both of those suggestions are great, actually. The request for PS3 will be something I do after I decide on (and learn how to execute) a method for accounts. One on hand, if having accounts takes up too much bandwidth and/or server space, there will be no way I can afford to do it, but that's something else to look into. It usually takes me about 2 weeks to mess with a new idea long enough before I can try something new, so expect that (as the next two weeks will be full of getting this database stuff down). On one hand, that's very good because this database stuff is really expanding my possibilities.

User accounts take almost no space. It's all DB space, which is mostly a glorified text file.

It's also a better idea from a security front, implementing logins securely is something a great many people do very wrong. Every time someone emails me back my plaintext password I cry a little inside.
