True, just more stuff for people to whine about as if they aren't doing it already.

While I have a little bit of pity there, not much. It's not the standard defined by Harmonix and not how they structured not only past DLC but also current. I don't believe that any song that has been put out 2X, has been 2X only. The only people who think this is a problem are the minute few who are demanding it. The polls and threads speak volumes as to how important most people think this is (not very). If ya wanna play with the kids on the playground, ya can't be an elitist.

If you want something bad enough, and it's your only option.............need I say more. You don't buy a Kia and demand that the company replace everything at your request because you wanted a Porsche to begin with, at no cost to you. The PS3 has never had full RBN support and that was quite a while ago that it launched. Plenty of time to have jumped ship for the better RBN supported console (being that's what it was designed for to begin with) without losing a large investment.

Well, it's basically just a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the user base. Really only the people that:
    - play drums on Expert
    - are actually good enough to even attempt a song with double bass
    - play on a console other than 360

This is a very small group of people.

I don't think I agree with this part of your post. RBN wasn't even announced until mid-2009; Rock Band itself released in late 2007. That's a year and a half of DLC, and assumes you were psychic and knew that certain features would never arrive on the other consoles - a fact that didn't actually become clear until well after RBN itself launched in March 2010. A more realistic time estimate would be shortly after the PS3 started getting songs in April 2010 (or for Wii owners, September 2010). That's a long, long time to have built up a song library for the game.

You get what you want for the most part and it doesn't affect anyone else's choice. You can gold star and they can gold star. Wow, that was easy!
1.10 people, but 8 of them would be getting them off ebay since I checked and you can't find them anywhere else.

2.Having to buy an xbox to have 2x bass isn't exactly keeping things on an even keel.

3.Acquiring gold stars can be an important part of the game and especially gold starring the majority of the songs that would be effected by this is an incredible achievement even on the single pedal version.
However, in a way it is a false victory because your not playing the full part of the song. I would even venture to say that those who can gold star these songs(single pedal version) are pretty incredible drummers(these songs are extremely difficult to gold star) who would relish the added challenge and already possess or would be willing to buy a second pedal.

So if somebody only owns the RB stock drums, they should have to switch to Hard and deal with fewer charted pads/cymbals and slow scrolling speed?

Well, without the XBOX and the XNA for the RBN to live on, you wouldn't even have 2X bass songs. So maybe your beef is with Microsoft really.

A false victory.....someone getting a gold star on a video game that doesn't fit your criteria for charting music. I guess all FPS trophies and achievements are false victories also because they aren't using real bullets? Given that, isn't every video game achievement a false victory because none of it is real?

Just my 2 cents but why couldn't they sell the 2x bass as a PRO-upgrade like they do with the PRO-guitar? Those that want it could pay the extra 0.99 for 2x bass and those that don't just get the usual expert chart. Thoughts?

Because XNA can't operate like that.

When the RBN was announced, it was known that it would exist on the XNA platform developed for the XBOX by Microsoft. Long before it was launched, that was known. Nowhere in the announcement was there a promise that the PS3 and the Wii would have parity, as a matter of fact, it said that "Standout tracks would follow on the PS3 and Wii platforms". Which means that only big sellers were going to get ported over. And which 2X drums songs qualify as "Standout"?

You're correct, the announcement was mid 2009. With the specifics given in the announcement, to believe that the other consoles would be getting exactly what was put out on the 360, no matter how long you wished and waited, would be a pipe dream. And it seems pretty evident, save a few people, that most people that are complaining don't have that much invested in DLC, since their only interest is in metal and all other music is "crap". At the most, there are maybe 100 2x bass songs on RBN. 95% of those are metal in some sub genre. If the largest user base is on the 360, and the 2X bass songs are not setting records there, exactly how do you expect them to be a "Standout" and ported over to the PS3? And since it takes Harmonix some work and money to convert it over to PS3, where is their incentive to do so, given the facts?

Again, if you want the 2X bass songs, buy the XBOX. If you are serious enough about drumming, you aren't using a stock drum kit, buying an MPA isn't that expensive. Porting over your whole library is not a requirement, switching discs and consoles is just an inconvenience. If it's not worth it to go through that little bit of trouble, then you really aren't serious enough about it.

To be sitting on a Game Forum, complaining to a company to change their business practice for a very minute few, means you are truly serious about it and a drummer elite. Got it.

You seem to be laboring under the misconception that I care at all about double bass. I barely even play drums, let alone play at Expert. I'm simply pointing out that your "obvious" solution is an expensive and inelegant solution. Also, you're assuming that everyone who might want this sort of feature lives on these forums and knows about every press release.

I stand by my statement that the way double bass is implemented in Rock Band is a hack job and is tremendously confusing for the average user.
